The PRC, through PRC-sponsored groups like Volt Typhoon, is using Living off the Land (LOTL) attacks that exploit legitimate tools within systems to actively pre-position itself within U.S. critical infrastructure to prepare to carry out malicious activities in potential conflict. . Key to our nation protecting against these threats is you doing your part to protect yourself. Here are some essential steps you can take: · Use strong, unique passwords: Avoid using easily guessable passwords and consider using a password manager. · Enable ad blockers: This can help prevent malicious ads from compromising your system. · Keep your antivirus software up to date: Regular updates ensure you have the latest protection against new threats. · Practice safe browsing: Be cautious about the websites you visit and avoid clicking on suspicious links. · Stay aware of phishing attempts: Be vigilant about emails or messages that ask for personal information or direct you to unfamiliar websites.
