About us
Founded at the end of the Second World War, the United Nations is an international organization made up of 193 Member States committed to maintaining international peace and security. Every day the UN works to tackle global challenges and deliver results for those most in need. Giving life-saving support to populations hit by humanitarian crises, helping build and keep the peace in conflict-ridden areas, supporting governments and their citizens to advance development and fight poverty, and promoting human rights worldwide are the core pillars of the work of the United Nations and the mandates it receives from its Member States. Girls continue to face barriers in getting the skills, education and training they need for their future. 120 million girls are still out of school globally, facing increased risks of violence, exploitation and early marriage. "The courage, hope and determination of girls are a force to be reckoned with,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Friday’s International Day of the Girl Child, stressing the need to listen to girls and provide them with the resources and opportunities to lead. “It is time for the world to step up and help transform their vision and aspirations into reality.” https://lnkd.in/gxQPNsFR
