In the wake of natural disasters like Hurricane Helene, there is belief in the power of human connection to heal and rebuild. Dr. Wesley Burks, Dean of the UNC School of Medicine, Vice Chancellor for Medical Affairs and CEO of UNC Health shared this message of support, hope and resilience to teammates across UNC Health.

Congratulations to Haley Meyer, BSN, RN, CPN, an Infusion Center nurse at UNC Children's Specialty Services at Raleigh, who received a Daisy Award recently! Her nomination said: "Haley always goes out of her way to make you smile." #CarolinaCare

Chad Setliff has been named president of UNC Health Rex and Triangle East, which includes hospital campuses in Raleigh, Holly Springs, Clayton and Smithfield. Setliff is scheduled to begin Oct. 28. Setliff joins UNC Health Rex from Novant Health, where he spent the past 20 years working in a variety of leadership roles. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of Novant Health, as both president of the Greater Winston-Salem market and Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

Historic flooding in Western North Carolina poses additional health risks beyond the initial widespread devastation and damage from Hurricane Helene. Infectious disease expert Dr. David Weber spoke with WRAL to share this advice.
