Join us in congratulating Jenny Lim, Medical Secretary at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center, who has received the prestigious Josie King Patient Safety Award. Jenny's exceptional attention to patient safety and meticulousness was demonstrated when she identified and promptly addressed an issue where a patient's preferred name was incorrectly displayed on labels and wristbands following a system update. Her proactive measures not only ensured the safety of our patients but also embodied our principle of preoccupation with failure—viewing every potential error as a crucial learning opportunity. Thank you, Jenny, for your steadfast commitment to maintaining a zero-harm environment and upholding the highest patient safety standards!

After 93 days indoors, a guardianship patient finally soaked up some sun, all thanks to Christie R. Webb, BSN, RN, CWOCN. Christie, our spirited Clinical Coordinator of Wound/Ostomy Care at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health, wasn't assigned to this patient that day. Yet, she couldn’t resist adding a bit of brightness to their day. When the patient requested "more sun," it wasn’t just the weather that warmed—it was our hearts, too. Cheers to Christie for exemplifying patient-centered care. Here’s to more sun and more care like Christie's!

One of the biggest misconceptions about health care today is that artificial intelligence (AI) will change it. According to Krishnaj Gourab, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute, "the biggest misconception is that AI will change health care. Without thoughtful implementation, we will have many unrealized potential, unsolved problems, and a large bill."
