The Department of the Army launched in May its first marketing campaign focused on recruiting civilians, and Redstone had a supporting role in the effort. The campaign, called “Find Your Next Level,” features two campaign videos that give an inside look at two Army civilian careers: “Boxes,” which captures an Army civilian physical scientist and his team as they drill into the ice to take ice core samples, demonstrating the unique and global nature of a civilian career. “Sky,” which shows an Army civilian satellite engineer working at an expansive satellite array with a team of people, transforming an intimate working moment into a high-scale project. #Army #News #Huntsville #Madison #RedstoneArsenal #localnews #ArmyCivilianCareers #FindYourNextLevel #ArmyMarketing #CivilianJobs #CareerOpportunities #BeAllYouCanBe #ArmyRecruitment #RedstoneInvolvement #ArmyEnterpriseMarketing #CivilianWorkforce #JobOpportunities

Conflict and combat are as old as humanity, but too often they leave silent and ignored remnants in survivors that lead to symptoms that create difficulties in their everyday lives. “Soldier’s Heart,” “Shell Shock” and “Battle Fatigue” are early attempts to diagnose the symptoms exhibited by Soldiers in war. It took humanity until the 20th century to truly begin to understand the devastating effects of combat, and it was 1980 before post-traumatic stress disorder became a mental diagnosis. “Everybody who has dealt with trauma, deals with post-traumatic stress. The stress is, ‘I’m having a hard time with this,’” Chaplain (Col.) Mark Morgan, command chaplain, Space and Missile Defense Command, said. “It doesn’t become a disorder until it causes issues or causes you not to be able to relate in society.” Col. Dennis Williams, deputy chief of staff, G-4, for the Space and Missile Defense Command, is among the nearly one in three veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom who have at some point in their lives been diagnosed with PTSD. He joined the Army Reserve in December 1993 and commissioned as an officer in the active Army in 2000. During his years of military service, he has deployed to a combat zone five times. From October 2006 to January 2008, Williams deployed to Iraq, which he calls the worst deployment he has ever had. “We lost a total of 17 Soldiers in my battalion that rotation, and at the time, that was deployment number three for me,” Williams said. “And just being over there, and that constant combat for 15 consecutive months. You know, it was just a lot. It was a lot on the Soldier, a lot on the leadership.” #IraqiFreedomVeteran #EnduringFreedomVets #MilitaryMentalHealth #VeteranSupport #PTSDAwareness #Army #News #Huntsville #Madison #RedstoneArsenal #localnews

Redstone Arsenal, has become a beacon of successful community collaboration. International eyes are turning toward this military installation, intrigued by its unique relationship with the surrounding cities. Recently, South Korea’s largest news organization, the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), embarked on a mission to explore how a military base and its neighboring communities can thrive together. Soobong Seong, who facilitated the KBS visit, highlighted the stark contrast between Redstone and South Korean military bases. The documentary-style report showcased our success story, emphasizing the harmony we’ve achieved. In parallel, a group of Japanese visitors, part of the International Visitor Leadership Program, delved into our community dynamics. Their takeaway? Redstone doesn’t advocate for itself directly but positions itself strategically. We’re not just an installation; we’re a dynamic candidate for growth and innovation. A Huntsville couple presented a piece of history to the German Patriot Office. Retired Col. Jon and Pam Stieglitz gave a framed segment of the Berlin Wall to the seven-member office June 12 at the office’s location in Redstone Gateway. The couple were in Germany when the wall came down in November 1989, marking the unification of East and West Germany. http://spr.ly/6040g3YPp
