Congratulations to Chelsie Stephenson, community outreach representative, who was recently recognized with the Hero of Peace award by Fall River Youth Violence Prevention. The organization praised Chelsie’s commitment to the city’s health and well-being through her work leading events and sponsorships to benefit the community.
Our community engagement team was busy last month partnering with thirteen organizations to hold health and wellness events across nine different communities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. We shared resources and information with more than 15,000 attendees including hygiene products, mobile closets, mental health workshops, laundry services and more.

We are proud to work with providers and community-based organizations to support a variety of health and wellness initiatives. Last month, we supported Massachusetts families preparing for back-to-school season by sponsoring events, distributing school supplies and offering an array of different resources such as before and after school care, tutoring services and more. Through our collaboration with eleven different organizations, we distributed supplies to more than 3,000 event attendees.

The health and wellness of our members is our top priority. We have been preparing for a potential announcement from Steward Health Care on hospital closings. We understand the concern that the closure of Carney Hospital and Nashoba Valley Medical Center may be causing our members. We urge our members impacted to reach out to our member services department, using the number on their health plan ID cards. Our member services team can help triage or mitigate any disruption to care. We will do all we can to ensure the continuity of care for our members, as well as maintain access to the high-quality health care they deserve.
