🏗 Trunk Tools was featured in Construction Dive, highlighting our collaboration with Gilbane Building Company and how Trunk Tools helps reduce rework: Roy and the mechanical contractor were unsure whether the seams on a fireplace exhaust duct needed sealing, a decision that could have led to costly rework and delays. Instead of a lengthy email chain, they used TrunkText. “Sure enough, within 20 seconds, I had five, six different documents pulled up in front of my face where I was and a text response saying, yes, the seams need to be sealed on this ductwork in order to create a proper vacuum,” Roy said. “If seams are not sealed, warranty will not be maintained, and the system may not function properly.” That’s just one example of hundreds of queries workers submitted over the course of the project. In a recent pilot program with Gilbane Building Company, Trunk Tools’ TrunkText was used on a $456 million project in Milwaukee. The project involved managing over 33.7 GB of data across 20.6 K individual documents, requiring an efficient solution to handle this volume of distributed information. Trunk Tools was first rolled out January 8th, 2024 and primarily used as an answer to increase efficiency, decrease answer lag time, and inspire a level of confidence in the field. Key outcomes from the pilot: 📊 246 questions answered over 37 working days, saving 20-40 minutes per question in search and travel time. 💸 6.5x ROI from labor savings alone, with a 40x ROI when considering rework prevention. ✅ 87% answer correctness rate, avoiding $100K+/month in potential rework. "Trunk Tools showed that it can help our teams increase efficiency and save significant time by preventing rework. With TrunkText doing the ‘document digging’ for me, I can work more effectively and be more responsive in the field," says Andrew Roy, Lead Superintendent.
