Affirming life at every step of your journey with illness and loss

About us

TRU Community Care affirms life at every step of your journey with illness and loss. Our vision is to lead a healthcare transformation by engaging with our communities and offering innovative, meaningful care for those living with illness and loss. Founded as Boulder Hospice in 1976, TRU Community Care is a Colorado-licensed, Medicare and Medicaid-certified, nonprofit health care organization serving the greater Boulder, Broomfield, Adams, Jefferson, and Weld Counties. With a focus on providing a continuum of care for members of our community living with advanced illness and loss, TRU’s programs include TRU PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), hospice home care, inpatient hospice care (at Longmont United Hospital), palliative care, grief support services, and community education and outreach. TRU has always been a community effort — owned by the community, supported by the community, and shaped by the community — since its founding in 1976. Our expert, professional staff offers people with advanced illness and their families high quality medical, emotional, and spiritual care at one of the most profound and vulnerable times of life. In addition to our high quality clinical services, we are committed to sharing our expertise and resources with individuals and organizations throughout the region. Every year, TRU offers numerous educational workshops, specialized grief support groups, and remembrance events. Visit www.trucare.org for more information.

On a beautiful Colorado morning, over 450 painted lady butterflies were released as hundreds gathered in Louisville’s Heritage Park to honor loved ones they had lost, enjoy a healing sense of community, and watch the fluttering wings of the butterflies symbolizing hope and renewal. Attendees shared heartfelt memories, and TRU CEO and President Scott Gresser reminded attendees that love and grief, like life and death, are inextricable from one another. We must feel it all, but we all have the strength and resilience to find hope in the face of grief. Whether you commemorated loved ones with us at the park, at cemeteries, in your own backyard, or elsewhere, we are glad you chose to participate and hope you had a meaningful experience. https://lnkd.in/gGU9QVZd

Today we celebrate Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers brought the news of freedom to enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas - over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Juneteenth is a day to honor the perseverance and strength of African Americans who endured the cruelties of slavery. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of ending slavery in the United States. Two years ago, President Joe Biden opened the signing of Juneteenth into law as a federal holiday with these words: "Juneteenth marks both the long, hard night of slavery and subjugation, and a promise of a brighter morning to come." Wishing everyone a reflective and meaningful Juneteenth. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #Equality

This week, TRU Community Care's Becki Parr joined others in the hospice and palliative care community in Washington, DC to discuss key issues with members of Congress during Hospice Action Week.

Hospice Action Week’s Hill Day was a great success! Advocates met with over 150 congressional offices to fight for key issues facing the hospice and palliative care community. ✔Protecting care for patients and families through program integrity efforts, improvements to the hospice Special Focus Program to ensure proper identification of poor-performing hospices, telehealth flexibilities, expansion of bereavement services, and ensuring access to care for our nation’s Veterans. ✔Making meaningful benefit improvements to increase access and advance health equity by addressing workforce crisis by allowing practitioners to perform at the top of their licensure, reforming the outdates six-month prognosis barrier, enabling concurrent care, and advancing health equity by removing structural barriers to care. ✔Innovation in serious-illness care delivery and payment by building upon previous, successful demonstration models through a community-based palliative care benefit and ensuring a seamless ending to the hospice VBID component through support for providers. ✔Protecting access and expanding quality by ensuring providers can offer the right care at the right time by securing an adequate level of reimbursement and ensuring resources are going directly to patient care by eliminating burdensome regulations that jeopardize access while strengthening effective program integrity measures to increase care quality. Enjoy just a few of the many photos from meetings throughout the day...more to come! #HospiceWorks #HAW2024

TRU is proud to be one of the first hospices in Colorado to achieve Level 5 Partner status through the We Honor Veterans program, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
