Did you know nearly 85% of Halloween costumes eventually end up in landfills? While it can be fun to dress up as your favorite frightening character, this data point is pretty scary. This year, we encourage everyone to make each piece of clothing and accessory count. When putting your costume together, we consider these less wasteful alternatives: 🎃 Shop secondhand at a thrift store or through your favorite brand’s resale program: You’ll often come across unique finds that will make your costume stand out more. 🎃 Look at what’s already in your closet: Your capsule wardrobe may have exactly what you need to put the finishing touches. 🎃 Resell or donate your costume: To prevent contributing to this year’s waste, consider reselling or donating your costume to give it a second life beyond this October. Dressing up for Halloween is always a fun time, but there’s no need for it to have a haunting impact on the environment. #BrandedResale #CircularEconomy #CircularFashion https://lnkd.in/eDMJYRBr

From announcing our new CEO to our latest acquisition of Recurate, Trove has been solidifying its industry standing and commitment to making branded resale more accessible and easier to launch and scale for brands. Now’s the time to spotlight the leaders making it all happen. First up, is CEO Terry Boyle! Terry joined Trove back in May, bringing extensive experience in consumer retail from his previous roles as CEO or President at businesses including Nordstrom, HauteLook, and Nordstrom Trunk Club. He was most recently CEO and President of Zulily, and before that, the Co-Founder and CEO of Behold. He is also a Board Member of The Black Tux. Under his leadership, Trove has: 🏆 Strengthened its market leadership by integrating Shopify and peer-to-peer solutions, following the acquisition of Recurate and its partners. 🏆 Helped partners launch programs in as little as 4 weeks, with its solutions’ tailored, pilot-friendly components. 🏆 Commanded over 75% of total U.S. branded resale traffic, cementing its status as the market leader in resale technology. 🏆 Continued building out its plans for global expansion, with a focus on new enterprise partnerships in Europe and the United Kingdom, while also driving growth in its established North American operations. We’re excited to continue growing our vision for a more circular industry, with the help of branded resale, under his leadership. #TroveTeam #TroveRecommerce

In 2021, approximately 1.2 million tons of textiles were disposed of in California. Despite 95% of textiles being reusable or recyclable, only 15% are currently recycled or reused. This week, California established steps towards a solution, signing its Responsible Textile Recovery Act of 2024 (SB 707) into law and marking the first Extended Producer Responsibility textile recycling program in the country. This groundbreaking bill will create a framework for the textile industry to manage the entire lifecycle of their textiles, from production to repair, recycling, and reuse. However, there’s no need to limit regulation like this bill to only California! At Trove, we believe pushing for similar legislation is a nationwide effort. To see similar changes in your state, we encourage everyone to educate themselves on how textile waste is impacting the fashion industry, contact local representatives, and support brands with circular practices. Consumer returns often have a bigger impact than expected when it comes to a brand’s revenue, sustainability progress, operations, and overall customer experience. Trove Board of Directors Member (and former CEO) Gayle Tait joined a panel of experts, including Optoro CEO Amena Ali, Loop Co-Founder and CEO Jonathan Poma, Two Boxes Co-Founder and CEO Kyle Bertin, G2 Reverse Logistics Co-Founder and CEO Julian Mitchell, on the eCom Logistics Podcast to discuss how innovation in the resale space enables brands to power trade-in and resale programs, helping them recapture value from returned items and reduce environmental impact. Pinterest released its Fall 2024 Trend Report, featuring exciting predictions for the season’s trends in fashion, including nature-inspired patterns and layering to be top of mind for shoppers. While these trends can be a fun way for consumers to express their styles, participating in seasonal microtrends can also contribute to the estimated 92 million tons of textile waste produced by the industry each year. How can resale help consumers stay warm as the weather gets colder? 🛍 Shopping secondhand can help shoppers locate apparel finds with unique patterns, standing out from mass-produced alternatives. 🛍 Layering on top of existing wardrobe items can help avoid overconsumption and encourage investing in high-quality, gently-used items. 🛍 Supporting brands with resale programs, like Trove partners The Frye Company, Canada Goose and Patagonia, makes for an easy choice when locating brands that offer earthy prints. By keeping these methods in mind, brands and consumers can work together to ensure the fashion industry does not compromise on style or sustainability. By integrating Trove’s market-leading resale technology, including in store trade-ins, digital trade-ins, returns processing, non-new inventory management, and resale site building and management with peer-to-peer expertise, operational network, and Shopify integrations, Trove can equip brands with the tools they need to quickly launch their own programs for a more circular future. #TroveRecommerce #SustainableFashion
