  • This week's Summit Spotlight is Madeline, a radiation therapist in Radiation Oncology Lab at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center at TriStar Summit Medical Center. Madeline has worked at TriStar Summit for 3.5 years. She says her connect to purpose is based on how she makes patients feel during their stay. "It feels good to know that even though our patients are going through something hard, I get to do my part to help be a light during a dark time." When Madeline isn't working, she loves to visit the beach, her favorite food is spaghetti, and she loves Rock music. If she could have lunch with anyone, she says Adam Sandler or Tim Burton. • This week's Summit Spotlight is Laura, Chief Radiation Therapist at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center at TriStar Summit Medical Center. Laura has worked at TriStar Health for three and a half years. She says her connect to purpose is based on how we treat others. "Radiation Oncology gives us the pleasure of really getting to know our patients, since we see them every day for several weeks. It is such a vulnerable time in someone's life while walking the journey of cancer and gives me the opportunity to not only treat the patient with my skill set, but help with emotional support, finding resources for them, etc. My passion is to treat the whole patient, no matter what the need is, not just provide radiation treatments." When Laura isn't working, she loves vacationing anywhere tropical, her favorite food is Mexican, and she loves all music. If she could have lunch with anyone, she says, her late mother-in-law. What does Laura love about Summit? "The sense of community and all areas working together for the benefit of our patients." #SummitSpotlight #CareLikeFamily #WeShowUp #BreastCancerMonth

  • This weekend, five colleagues from TriStar Summit Medical Center joined more than 60 colleagues from @TriStar Health to travel to Asheville, North Carolina to support, assist and provide relief to caregivers at HCA Healthcare affiliate Mission Hospital. As Hurricane #Helene swept through Western North Carolina this week, it brought torrential rain, widespread power outages and cell service disruptions. Through challenging days, colleagues have selflessly served their community and supported Mission Health patients without hesitation. We are proud to support our fellow HCA Healthcare colleagues as their community continues to recover. Thank you for showing up for each other. #HealthierTomorrows #HCANursing

  • As we come to the end of National Rehabilitation Month, we want to share a wonderful story about one of our patients at TriStar Summit Medical Center. Ted recently suffered a stroke and received his initial care at Summit's inpatient rehabilitation unit. After his discharge, Ted was transferred to outpatient therapy. During his evaluation for occupational therapy, he stated that one of his goals was to be able to climb the stairs to his loft where his has his own printing machines, one of his hobbies he enjoys during retirement. After a little over a month of occupational therapy, Ted showed significant improvement. He was able to return to his daily activities, including climbing his stairs independently. As he celebrated meeting his goals, he also celebrated our outpatient therapy team, who he calls his 'Summit Sisters." He created and printed a thank you t-shirt for the entire team. We are so proud of his progress! #CareLifeFamily #RehabMonth

  • This week's Summit Spotlight is Stephanie, RN, is a Clinical Nurse Coordinator at the TriStar Mt. Juliet ER. Stephanie has worked at TriStar Health for four years. She says her connect to purpose is based on how we treat others. "I have always felt like I could connect with people quickly and easily and allow people to feel like they have a person who truly sees them in their time of need. I treat patients like family because I would want my family treated the same. To me, being a nurse isn't all about having technical skills; it's really more about how we make people feel." When Stephanie isn't working, she loves vacationing on a lake in a boat, her favorite food is crab legs, and loves country music. If she could have lunch with anyone, she says, the father of her two oldest girls who passed away a few years ago. What does Stephanie love about Summit? "I love Summit because of the people who make up Summit and the memories I have here with co-workers, past and present. I feel like Summit offers a safe place for this community. People like knowing that in an emergency or time of need, there are people here waiting to take care of them and do it well." #SummitSpotlight #CareLikeFamily #WeShowUp
