If you have followed Tread for any amount of time, you know Tyler Zombro He's been featured in dozens of data-centric videos and podcasts on the channel, and has been a key contibutor and coach for us even as he has continued pursuing his own pro playing career over the last 5 years. This weekend he officially turned the page on his playing career. We're incredibly proud of Z and everything he accomplished in his career (going from an undrafted free agent to AAA and the Rays' 2019 MiLB Reliever of the Year). Even more important is the impact he's already had on hundreds (possibly thousands) of players. Those who have been through career-ending injuries understand how tough it is when your body no longer cooperates. Z put everything he had into his rehab behind the scenes - fighting back from a near-death skull fracture following a comebacker (which required 16 plates to repair and nearly a year of rehab), to undergoing TOS surgery the following year, to ongoing nerve complications and another surgery the following year. He maintained high spirits throughout this time, continuing to coach dozens of pro players at a high level, even as his personal playing career continued to be an uphill battle. At some point, the game tells all of us that it's time. Be able to look yourself in the mirror and know that you gave it everything you had.
