As we go back to school, we want to highlight that children in kinship care experience fewer school changes, which means more stability in their education and relationships. With less disruption, children can focus on learning and growth. 📚 Learn more about becoming a foster parent: https://bit.ly/3ZmcDuy

Bring your authentic self to the table and help us strengthen children & families across NYS!
About us
For nearly 140 years, Together for Youth (formerly Berkshire Farm Center) has remained committed to a mission of empowering youth and families so they can live safely, independently, and productively within their communities. Our history is long and our commitment to our mission has not wavered, but the way we help families has evolved to meet their unique challenges. Our 600+ staff across NYS bring their authentic selves to work each day as they serve over 2,000 children and families daily. Learn more about our mission, our commitment to DEI, and ways to get involved by visiting our website at: www.berkshirefarm.org or following us on social media. TFY's Equity Statement: The Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth community stands committed to embracing and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. We vow to begin our journey by looking inward – by examining all biases and judgements while acknowledging both privilege and power. We are committed to better understanding privilege whether it be through race, gender, sexual identity, religion, ability, or other forms. Once fully acknowledged, we pledge to use the identified privilege to advocate for others. We understand that the work we do fosters change that will create a positive, ripple effect within our agency and in the community. We at TFY stand committed to becoming an all-inclusive, anti-racist, multicultural organization that encompasses a sense of belonging for all staff members, children and families, and community partners who join us in our mission. We are committed to dismantling barriers and ideology that reinforce a non-inclusive environment. We are dedicated to remaining open-minded, respectful, and actively choose learning over comfort. We acknowledge that everyone is on their own journey, and we strive to cultivate a culture of non-judgment, to choose words carefully, show compassion, extend grace, and consistently strive to become an advocate and ally for others.

The theme for Hispanic Heritage Month 2024 is “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together.” The month provides an opportunity for learning about the many and varied contributions people of Hispanic heritage of have made in their chosen fields. By examining even a few examples, from Nobel Prize Laureat Dr. Severo Ochoa who helped break the human genetic code, to human and labor rights advocate Dolores Huerta, to EGOT winner Rita Moreno, to Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, it is easy to see that people of Hispanic heritage have broad reaching impact across our society. Our Family Specialists recently took 15 youth from our Home Run and Turnabout programs on a fun-filled roller-skating adventure at High Rollers in Amsterdam! 🌟 For many of the younger kids, it was their first time on skates, and it was heartwarming to see several parents join in, helping their children learn to glide. This unforgettable experience was made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship from the Upstate Chevy Dealer's Summer to Remember program. 🛼 #SummerFun #SummerToRemember #UpstateChevyDealers

We are thrilled to announce Mrs. Natasha Duchesne's acceptance of the Director of Clinical Services position. She has been with Together for Youth for almost 4 years in a variety of roles from clinician at our Gloversville group home to Assistant Director of Clinical Services in the capital region. In her new role, she will oversee clinical programming from the north country down to Poughkeepsie, including youth in foster care, two of our group homes, FFT, and our Community Mental Health program. Natasha’s passion and advocacy for the well-being of children and families, and her solution-focused mindset will continue to strengthen and grow - expanding clinical services throughout the state. Join us in congratulating, Natasha! 🎉

On August 15, the DEIB Committee held its annual retreat at the Blake Annex in Albany. This year, we welcomed members from the newly formed House of the Good Shepherd DEIB Committee, as they are beginning their work in this area. We spent time getting to know one another, sharing stories about our personal journeys with diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. The team reflected on the work they’ve done and began to lay out a path for the future. It was a day of learning, fun and connection. We also took a moment to celebrate Lori (Cynthia) Griffa, a founding member of the Together for Youth DEIB Committee. Lori is planning to retire at the end of the school year, so this was to be her last retreat with the team. Lori’s passion for DEIB work has been a driving force in her life. She has been inspired by her father, who was a protester sitting at lunch counters during the Civil Rights era. Lori spoke of the pride she has felt in the work of the committee, and she thanked us for “sitting at the counter” with her.

A huge thank you to the Upstate Chevy Dealers for sponsoring our Summer to Remember program! 🎉 Because of your generosity, 14 of our youth, guided by four of our Family Specialists, had an unforgettable day at the Utica Zoo. 🦁🐒 The older Turnabout youth stepped up as role models, helping the younger Home Run youth explore the park and even feed some of the animals. It truly was a day to remember for all! 💛 #SummerToRemember #TogetherForYouth #UpstateChevy #CommunityPartners
