We had an incredible time with WBEZ Chicago's Curious City producer Max Lubbers and listener Emily Tamblyn listening to Def Leppard around Wrigleyville! Be sure to listen to the latest episode and hear our own Scott Pfeiffer, FASA as Curious City gets to the bottom of why sometimes concerts four miles away feel like they're in your backyard 👂 https://lnkd.in/g9prGT5s

We believe every space is a venue for deep connection.
About us
Threshold Acoustics provides acoustics and AV design consulting for performance, education, worship, cultural and public assembly spaces. Our collective experience spans two decades and scores of prominent music, theater, educational, and religious buildings – as well as a remarkable diversity of others – whose owners have sought intentional, well-crafted soundscapes in their buildings. Our accomplished, engaging staff brings backgrounds in music, theater, mechanical and electrical engineering, physics, live sound, architecture, and architectural acoustics. That diversity supports our approach to room acoustics, audio/video systems, noise control, and sound isolation as inseparable parts of a whole. We apply our deep knowledge of the subject to every project, taking care to explain the scientific and perceptual basis for our recommendations because doing so frees the design team to explore possibilities with a clear understanding of what is acoustically important and why. Smart decisions, new approaches, and elegant designs can then emerge from the team as a whole. Beyond our core practice, we apply ourselves to more diverse areas that affect people on a daily basis, for example: serving on boards and lecturing in academia; presenting our research to the Acoustical Society of America; and contributing to new Veterans Administration guidelines for healing environments. By working through the AIA and other professional design organizations, we seek to increase awareness of the aural realm’s importance – which extends well beyond cultural events to workplace interactions, social exchanges, and the quality of life overall.

An inspiring collaboration is right! We so enjoyed working on this article with David Odeh and Jay Taylor we loved watching 1,800 tons of structural steel move nimbly between forms. Check out our cover article in Modern Steel Construction to read more!
Cover of Modern Steel Construction - 'nuff said! Odeh Engineers, member of WSP in the U.S., led the structural team for this iconic new performing arts center at Brown University by REX Architecture. Thanks to all of our partners and especially Jay Taylor and Carl Giegold, FAIA for a truly inspiring collaboration! https://lnkd.in/ebgkhJe3

We're excited to be part of the amazing team getting LSO St. Luke's Future Ready in 2025! If you're wondering "hang on, isn't Future Ready a Dua Lipa album?" you're so close - that's Future Nostalgia, which we were not involved with, aside from listening to it non-stop in 2020. Instead we are working with an incredible team to improve the acoustics to better support LSO St. Luke's already world-class programming! See you again when the doors open! #FutureReady #Symphony #SymphonyOrchestra #OrchestraAcoustics #Acoustics London Symphony Orchestra https://lnkd.in/dapYARKc

When your project has a purpose like "pioneer a new approach to how the world designs, imagines, programs, utilizes, and embraces its cultural infrastructure" its an honor to be in the room. We are thrilled to be a member of the design team taking the meaning behind those words and transforming them into a built reality.
RPBW has revealed the initial design for The Center for Arts & Innovation, Inc. in Boca Raton, a project aimed at becoming a global hub for creativity and innovation - featuring a multifunctional three-story building with a versatile main venue, expansive public and private workspaces, a rooftop terrace, and underground parking. This innovative space is designed to inspire communities and foster a cultural renaissance in downtown Boca Raton, blending arts, education, and business.

Can you find Senior AV Consultant Maddie Daily inspecting the deployment of the main line arrays during close-out at Groton in the image? Maddie was added to the project in the final stages to attend close-out, or commissioning, which she considers vital to every project. Close-out allows a chance to evaluate the integrity of the design agreed upon by the client and design team. It gives consultants a chance to hear the systems that have, until then, existed only on paper. For Maddie, it’s a chance to grow as an AV system designer. “You do all this work, put hours into getting something drawn, and then you see it fabricated. It’s a life-altering experience in this industry - Holy *** people are building the things I told them to build!” The thrill is a double-edged sword, however: “You’re forced to see a younger version of yourself, a piece of yourself from 3 – 7 years ago [when you first designed the system]. Your systems are a reflection of you and you have to be honest with yourself. A choice you made 3 years ago has ramifications.” Being able to experience the system as the user helps Maddie grow: she learns what works, what could be improved, hears the users’ feedback, and then brings that knowledge to the next project. “Every AV system in every building is special. If I’m not questioning myself from 3 years ago then I’m not growing as a designer.” Congrats on a successful close-out at Groton, Maddie! “How might a performing arts centre feel as open and inclusive as a park?” What an honor to be the acoustic and AV consultants working together with KPMB, Hindle Architects, Tawaw Architecture Collective, and FDA toward an answer for the Calgary Arts Commons Transformation! We hope you enjoy the first visual representation of the ACT Expansion – inspired by Alberta’s dramatic landscapes and purpose-built to reflect the spirit of the community it will serve, our favorite part might be the intention behind the design: a place where everyone is welcome, as open and inclusive as a park. Congrats to the whole team for this milestone!
