Are you a rehabilitation counselor, special educator, guidance counselor, or school social worker looking to brush up on your transition knowledge and skills? The UMass Boston Transition Leadership Program (TLP) is hosting three information sessions in November and December about our spring 2025 online TLP certificate program! In the UMass Boston TLP, you will learn how to support students with disabilities during their transition from high school to postsecondary activities and assist young adults with disabilities to lead more independent lives. You will also develop advocacy skills to influence state and national disability policies. We are thrilled to share that Think College has been selected to participate in 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 - an incubator program that supports teams across the US and its territories in tackling a problem or gap impacting the health of young people in their community. Led by Think College's very own Chelsea VanHorn Stinnett, PhD, Becca Smith-Hill, and Catherine Smith from CarolinaLIFE, their goal is to conceptualize a solution that supports college students with intellectual disability to develop knowledge of comprehensive sexual health and their sexual rights and responsibilities as healthy and informed campus community members. Yesterday, Think College team member Susanna Miller-Raines, MSW Miller-Raines was the keynote for Faculty Professional Development at Stanly Community College (SCC), and then did a breakout presentation for faculty on on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). She and our Program Director, Cate Weir, also presented at North Carolina State University for a consultation earlier in the week.
