The Nursing Beat is coming to you LIVE from New Orleans at the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet/Pathway conference! Day 1️⃣ kicked off with a #pressconference with some wise words from Sir Saint of the New Orleans Saints. Rebecca Graystone, PhD, MBA, RN, NE -BC of the American Nurses Credentialing Center spoke on the importance of this conference, noting, "Ultimately, we are striving for awareness of the nursing profession and how designations like Magnet recognition and Pathway to excellence help organizations provide that framework and elevate the standard of care, while at the same time, supporting their teams to feel motivated and invested and supported in value.” Kathy Driscoll MSN, RN, NEA-BC, CCM of the American Nurses Foundation, concluded with some powerful words: "We harness the power of nursing to work to transform the nation's health because we know that nurses are the key to a healthy nation." We then got to listen to keynote speaker Robin Arzón, the VP of Fitness Programming and Head Instructor of Peloton Interactive, talk about her story and how she believes you can turn your sweat into success. As #nurses, we often forget to prioritize our well-being, which was evident given the packed room of 400+ at the "Reimaging Nursing" talk hosted by Adriane Griffen and Nyuma Harrison. The day was filled with numerous sessions from #leadership to well-being, burnout, health equity, and student nurse transition support. Today - We are going to check out the Nurse Innovators Row! Stay tuned. Our highlight photo of the day was our COO, Hannah W. B., hanging with Sir Saint and the New Orleans Saints cheer squad 👇

The Nursing Beat reposted this
Historically, #nurses, though the primary executors of #patientcare, have often been excluded from decision-making tables. This is changing. We're at the forefront of a movement to normalize the inclusion of nurses, ensuring our voices are not only heard but actively listened to in order to improve patient care, health outcomes, and develop sustainable healthcare technologies. Case in point: In a traditionally non-nursing-centric conference, HLTH Inc. curated a Nurse Advisory Board, facilitated by Amy Eckenroth, dedicated to empowering nurses and highlighting our insights and viewpoints in all discussions related to and surrounding healthcare. It was an honor to be selected as an #advisoryboard member to represent The Nursing Beat. As a nurse-driven healthcare media company, Tamara AL-Yassin and I are dedicated to amplifying the voices of our nursing community and highlighting conferences and events that have traditionally excluded nurses. 🌊 Last week, the Nurses @ HLTH track showcased a tidal wave of nurses. Nurse innovators. Nurse entrepreneurs. Nurse speakers. Nurse panelists. Frontline nurses. Nurse executives. Nurse informaticists. Nurse leaders. Nurses were everywhere - on both big and small stages. Through NurseApproved, Rebecca Love RN, MSN, FIEL brought 3️⃣ 0️⃣ nurse-led companies to the Nurse Innovators Pavilion. It was inspiring to see so many brilliant nurse minds have such a physical presence on the exhibit floor. The HLTH Foundation secured a #grant from the RWJF to sponsor 2️⃣ 4️⃣ #minority and underrepresented nurses, including nurse leaders, to attend the HLTH Inc. conference. This was a true testament to HLTH's dedication to the importance of diversity and inclusion in healthcare. We are on the cusp of a new era for nursing, one where our voices are amplified, and our impact is undeniable. I'm eager to witness the transformative power of nurses as we continue to reshape the future of healthcare, together. 🥂 Cheers to the nurses who represented at HLTH Inc. 2024. I can't wait to see what HLTH Inc. and ViVE 2025 brings 👀. #nursesonlinkedin

Day 3️⃣ of HLTH Inc. kicked off with the first-ever nurse #hackathon sponsored by connectRN and hosted by Rebecca Love RN, MSN, FIEL. 💪 Teams of nurses came together to innovate, collaborate, and solve real-world challenges using technology and AI. From reimagining scheduling and staffing to combating the social determinants of health, the teams worked to create solutions to common challenges in healthcare. The hackathon panel of judges included - Ted Jeanloz, connectRN Tiffany Wilson, University City Science Center Kathleen McGrow, DNP, MS, RN, PMP, FHIMSS, FAAN, Microsoft Amy McCarthy, Hippocratic AI The winning team developed an innovative idea for a patient-centered language solution. Bringing an idea to life is no small feat, so team TNB then went to watch founder Michelle Stephens, PhD, CPNP, RN, CRO of Felt, share about her entrepreneurial journey alongside Lynne Chou O'Keefe of Define Ventures, Mario Schlosser of Oscar Health, and Holly Maloney of General Catalyst. The panel was moderated by Sofia Guerra of Bessemer Venture Partners. Michelle Stephens, PhD, CPNP, RN, stated, “Being a founder is when you can't live another day in this world without what you're building. It's a game in which speed and efficiency win." The Nurses @ HLTH track ended with "Ask Me Anything: Nurse Innovation Edition." Moderator Oriana Beaudet, DNP RN FAAN, VP of Innovation for the American Nurses Association, asked the panelists to define innovation. 💡 Maureen Rinkunas - Redesign Health - “What innovation really comes from is leveraging empathy and creativity to solve medical problems.” 💡 Andrew Landsman - Husch Blackwell - “Innovation comes from anywhere where a problem is being solved.” 💡 Tiffany Wilson - University City Science Center - “Innovation comes from the identification, the need first and foremost, and then coming up with novel solutions to address that need in the context of what your customer wants and needs." 💡 Kathleen McGrow, DNP, MS, RN, PMP, FHIMSS, FAAN, Microsoft “[Innovation] is really about empowerment, and it's empowering the different end users.” 💡 Michael Hasselberg, University of Rochester - "When I think of innovation, I think of healthcare innovation...Healthcare is a team sport, and nurses are just a part of that larger team…I don't like to separate medical innovation or nursing innovation. It's healthcare innovation, and we're all part of the same team.” 💡 Bre Loughlin, MS, RN, Nurse Disrupted, Inc. - "We write the story. We still command the computers, and we create a better tomorrow through technology and healthcare." To say the least, HLTH Inc. has been inspiring, and we are grateful for the opportunity to cover press this year. For those who are interested in attending this conference, HLTH Inc. raised over $100K to bring nurses on scholarship this year, and we look forward to amplifying these opportunities next year!

The Nursing Beat is on the ground in Las Vegas, covering the HLTH Inc. Conference and the Nurses @ HLTH track. Day 2️⃣ kicked off with a meaningful session facilitated by Tesiah Coleman, MSN, AGPCNP-BC, WHNP-BC, CLC, CEO & founder of Togather, the first-ever collective care platform designed by, and for, healthcare providers. The session offered a powerful framework for how to confront racial bias in healthcare. Some key takeaways from this session that every healthcare provider should do 👉 🩺 Identify Assumptions: At the beginning of each patient interaction, take a moment to reflect on any assumptions you might be making about the patient. 🩺 Acknowledge Power Dynamics: Recognize the inherent power imbalance in the provider-patient relationship. Consider how this might impact your interactions and the patient's experience. 🩺 Integrate Evidence-Based Practice with Lived Experiences: While evidence-based practice is crucial, it should be paired with an understanding of the patient's lived experiences to provide the most effective care. 🩺 Seek Support: Understand that you may not be the best fit for every patient. Respect requests for culturally concordant care and seek opportunities to increase your cultural responsiveness. 💪 This framework is essential for creating a more equitable and inclusive healthcare system. Our second session of the day session on nurse-led inpatient collaborative virtual care with Rachel George MD, MBA - Emerus Holdings, Inc., Thomas Scully - Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe and Eddie Rivas - Emerus Holdings, Inc. 💪 The virtual care model they implemented resulted in increased patient satisfaction, shorter lengths of stay, an expanded scope of services, and reduced burnout. They are currently conducting studies to validate their model and the effects of virtual care. While virtual care can positively affect rural healthcare systems with a lack of resources, nurses in the audience questioned the potential safety hazards of a care delivery system without physically present MDs. 🗓️ The final Nurses @ HLTH session was a discussion between the In-House Health team, Ari Brenner, founder and CEO, and Sergey Vasilenko, CCRN, MPH, MHA Co-founder and chief Nursing Officer, on how they are leveraging AI to drive nursing workforce efficiency and reduce burnout in eight Assuta Medical Centers Medical Center inpatient units. They discussed the success of their program and the improvement in nursing productivity, confidence in scheduling practices, and reduced difficulty in building and updating schedules. Day 2️⃣ concluded with a vibrant Nurses Reception sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, hosted by Rebecca Love RN, MSN, FIEL of NurseApproved, with a special toast from Margo B Minissian, PhD, RN, ACNP-BC, NEA-BC, FAHA, FAAN. Over one hundred #nurses gathered to connect, share ideas, and discuss the critical role of nurse-led innovation in shaping the future of healthcare. Stay tuned for our recap of day 3️⃣ of HLTH Inc.!
