Empowering young women + minorities to fight for their place in cyber by offering bold, unfiltered insight into cyber.
About us
LIVE FRIDAYS at 9:15/12:15! About the Podcast: “Where are the women in cyber?” The Landscape In 2022 the cyber security field still consists of 24% women and only 2.2% LGBTQ+ minorities. Long-perpetuated gender, age, and demographic biases held by the ‘Baby Boomer’ and Gen-X groups have led to a severe gap in the representation and advancement of women and minorities in this field. Millennials entered the workforce and attempted to forge a new way by asking for small changes; but definitely conceded others. Currently the Boomers/Gen-X accounting for 55% of the workforce are on their way out. There is a new perspective shift happening industry-wide in tech because Gen-Z has arrived, and they don't ask for change - they command it. Millennials and Gen-Z make up 35% of the workforce but that will grow to more than 75% by the end of 2030. The Solution We are not here to simply identify a diversity problem, we are here to solve it. Head-on. It is our mission to close this gap by inspiring and empowering Gen-Z women and minorities to seize their place in the cyber community. Breaking molds to choose careers inherently designated for us by gender bias. Branding cyber as lucrative and exciting. Nurturing a curiosity in tech where it was conditioned out of us. Dispelling the myths surrounding different niches and avenues into cyber and highlighting the success and fulfillment that can be achieved here. We are going to bestow strategies for navigating the mindsets we encounter on a daily basis and how to overcome the challenges they present. We're going to do this fueled by bold, raw, unfiltered insights to propel new talent forward and challenge managers to join the train of progress; or we will leave you behind. We are The Cyber Queens and we're building the sisterhood of cyber.

I have some bittersweet news for all of The Cyber Queens fans out there: 🏳️🌈 Maril Vernon, CEH, MSCSIA and Stacey Champagne have made the decision to conclude The Cyber Queens Podcast. Producing a podcast is no easy endeavor. It requires investment of personal capital and many hours on nights and weekends to: - source guests - write scripts - make graphics - edit and publish the recordings The Cyber Queens Podcast benefitted from an amazing squad of generous and talented volunteers whom we thank deeply for their support! Since 2022, the Cyber Queens Podcast produced 60 episodes with the goal of increasing representation of women and minorities in cyber, and fostering a more diverse, inclusive, and honest environment to welcome the next generation of minority professionals. The Cyber Queens Podcast provided a platform for voices and ideas that challenged the status quo. Topics have included everything from salary negotiations to breaking into cyber strategies, all the way to succeeding into the C-Suite. To date, the podcast has received over 15,000 views and nearly 10,000 downloads. In December 2023 it was recognized with the SANS Institute Difference Makers Award as Podcast or Livestream of the Year, a testament to the desire and value of the unique perspectives the show provides.o However, as the cybersecurity landscape is ever-evolving, so too are the professional and personal lives of the co-hosts. 👩💻 Maril will be taking the time to plan her foray into organizational leadership and finally sit for the CISSP we had a squad for this year. Stacey will be heads down on new offerings and courses for the Hacker in Heels Insiders community. 👩❤️👨 We’ll both be taking time to enjoy family after a long season of “hustle” and #girlbossing very, very hard. 🧘♀️ But most importantly, we’ll be making more time for fun, healing, and goals outside of cyber which contribute to mental wellness and being more present in our personal lives. (Did you know Stacey does BJJ?) Fear not! Cyber Queens will continue to be available on Apple Podcasts while the material and advice are relevant. And in celebration of such an impressive, successful endeavor that has been the Cyber Queens Podcast, Maril (the OG Founding Co-Host!) will be revisiting the catalog of recordings and curating a playlist of the most favored and impactful episodes, including those never-before-published. 🎧 Make sure you are subscribed to the show to get notified when the playlist is published—one episode weekly starting on June 21, 2024 and continuing on until the end of the summer. We’re so excited for the next chapters of our careers and lives and w have loved sharing our Fridays with you all. Thank you for your enduring support! -Maril & Stacey 🩷💜💛 #womenincybersecurity #cybersecurity #cybersecuritypodcast
