I’m thrilled to share that I recently completed an incredible summer as The Civic Action Project (CAP)'s summer fellow! This experience was a unique opportunity to merge my passion for public policy with hands-on work in climate resilience. Over 10 weeks, I worked with the Charles River Watershed Association on reviewing Climate Action Plans, and analyzing local tree bylaws to help support the process of developing a Climate Action Plan for the town of Franklin. A big thank you to my supervisor, Cabell Eames, and associate attorney Zeus Smith, for your guidance and support. Your mentorship made this experience truly rewarding. And a shout-out to the entire CRWA team for being amazing! CAP Thursdays became the highlight of my week where I gained valuable insights from weekly training sessions with leaders in the public and private sectors, including Massachusetts state senators and representatives. These experiences have deepened my commitment to climate resilience and public policy. Looking forward to applying what I’ve learned to future challenges. This week I was privileged to have lunch with Ira Jackson the 2024 inaugural Get Konnected! DEI Ally Hall of Fame Honoree. For more than five decades he has been a tireless advocate for diversity,equity and inclusion. He’s the official father of Corporate Social Resposibility/ Corporate Citizenship and Cause Marketing. He was the youngest Chief of Staff to any American Mayor when he worked for Boston’s iconic Mayor Kevin White. As the head of External Affairs and Philanthropy at Bank Boston he funded the launch of several social justice initiatives including Organization for a New Economy (One); The 10 Point Coalition; City Year and Bank Boston’s First Community Banking ( the first non minority owned urban bank in the region). I also presented Ira “the ultimate includer”with a copy of my book #TheIncluders #AllyshipMatters; #EconomicInclusion

I’m thrilled to share that this past Thursday, I graduated from The Civic Action Project (CAP) as a Summer 2024 Fellow, along with twenty other fellows. I wanted to take a moment to extend my gratitude to Rebecca Gordan and Afsha Kasam, along with George Bachrach, Ira Jackson, and Steve Crosby for the amazing experiences that I owe to CAP. I was honored to spend the summer as an intern at the Boston Public Health Commission in the Intergovernmental Relations office. There, I was able to engage in extremely fulfilling work on pressing public health issues, contributing to the ongoing improvement of city-wide efforts. The ideas shared and relationships built over the summer are invaluable to me and am so excited to carry them forward with me.
