October 7, 2023 forever changed the lives of so many - initiating deep feelings of grief, heartbreak, healing and reflection. In late 2023, R&R released a 4-part series called 'Walkshops for Comfort' - taking our Walkshop model focused on movement and motion and utilizing it to support individual and communal resilience. 365 days later, and the 'comfort' part of this series still rings so true. About us
R&R belongs to the nappers, the deep sleepers, and hamock hangers. It belongs to tired folk caring for kids, loved ones and community. R&R belongs to the energy after a long walk. The sounds of the ocean and trees rustling in the forest. R&R emerged amidst a growing trend for non-profit professionals: the workplace isn’t working and folks are burning out. R&R believes there is a better way. Work hours should be shorter, vacations longer, schedules more flexible, and sabbaticals baked into our organizations. As a lab we will be offering granting for sabbaticals, training, consulting and thought leadership.

📢 Thrilled to announce that our 2024 Sabbatical Grant Application is now OPEN! Following a successful and learnings-filled pilot in ‘22-’23, our core goals for R&R’s second round of sabbatical granting are as follows: ✅ Acknowledge and reward nonprofit leaders with a 3-month break from their professional work for rest and rejuvenation; ✅ Support sabbatical organizations in advancing a shared leadership model across their organizations; ✅ Advance the skills and capacity of staff at sabbatical organizations so that they can assume increased leadership; ✅ Advocate for building and expanding equitable rest policies and practices within the nonprofit sector, generating widespread appreciation for the critical value of workers and a sustainable environment that supports them. 🔥 It's my birthday, which has me thinking about giving. Make a gift to a cause you believe in today. 💜 Ideas to help: 😎 Be strategic- What causes are upstream of so many problems we face? Said a different way, if we solved X, it would help A,B and C 🙌🏼 Be Values Driven- Get clear about the values that drive you and give from that place. If you ran into your 14-year-old self, what are the top three things you would tell them you believe in as an adult? Give from that place. 🙏🏼 Think in generational time- Zoom way out. What do you want to pass down to our children's generation, their children, and their children's children? This means that it might not be about impact in the next year but rather how to set up this little planet for success in the long term. 👏🏼 Support start-ups. I think we all know that what got us here will not get us to where we need to go. Start-ups, experimental teams at legacy orgs, and thought leaders all need your support.
