Reflecting on a successful Workforce Development Month: ✅ Launched the Massachusetts Workforce Skills Fund, a pilot stipend program to reduce barriers to job training for unemployed and underemployed individuals. ✅ Expanded job training programs for those facing employment barriers, including residents of Emergency Assistance shelters. ✅ Secured a $1M grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to expand Registered Apprenticeships in Massachusetts. ✅ Announced $11M in Workforce Training Fund awards to 125 businesses across the state in 2024. Workforce Training Fund Program grants awarded in 2024 are a key component of the Healey-Driscoll Administration’s strategy to strengthen and grow Massachusetts' workforce. These grants will provide critical training in areas such as ESOL, project management, software/IT, and machine setup and operation. With this investment, 6,600 workers are expected to receive skills training directly in the workplace, and employers anticipate adding over 1,400 new jobs across the state within the next two years.
