Today, we celebrate Black Girl Day Off! 🖤✨ Following World Mental Health Day, this special day emphasizes the importance of self-care and mental well-being for Black women. Honoring yourself is an act of radical self-love, and today, on Black Girl Day Off, it's essential that we, take a moment to pause, reflect, and recharge. In the hustle of everyday life, we often carry the weight of the world on our shoulders—navigating professional spaces, maintaining relationships, and pushing ourselves to be everything to everyone. But today, let’s prioritize ourselves. Following World Mental Health Day, this day is a reminder that our mental health matters too. Rest, relaxation, and restoration are not indulgences; they are necessities. Whether it’s taking a full day to yourself or just carving out a few moments of stillness, use today to honor your mind, body, and soul. You deserve it! Let's use this day as a reminder to nurture our souls, uplift each other, and break down the barriers that hold us back. How will you honor yourself today? #BlackGirlDayOff #MentalHealthMatters #SelfCare #BlackWomenMentalHealth #RestIsResistance #Empowerment

-TRIGGER WARNING: s*i*i*e- September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time to honor those we’ve lost and raise awareness about the mental health epidemic that affects millions of Americans. Recent research from an article Rolling Out shows a troubling rise in suicidal thoughts among Black women, especially those in higher income brackets—challenging the notion that financial stability ensures well-being. We couldn't help to think about our fallen sister, Antoinette Candia-Bailey. Her untimely death was not only a profound loss, but a poignant reminder of the struggles many Black women across the country. No matter how uncomfortable this topic is, we have to keep the conversation going. To those experiencing suicidal ideations or thoughts, just know you are not alone and your story does not end here. If you are experiencing suicidal ideations, text or call 988 to access the 27/4 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Thank you to Amari Apple for penning this thought-provoking piece. As the end of National Wellness Month slowly approaches, we're reflecting on the impactful conversation we had on ICology Presents: Prioritizing Wellness as Black Communicators. Founders Deme Jackson and Mirasha B. shared insights on the unique challenges Black women face in the workforce, from heightened stress and burnout to navigating microaggressions. They also talked about the importance of community, practical wellness strategies, and the critical role of allies in creating supportive environments. Thank you, Kristin Hancock, for sharing your space with us and our supporters who tuned in. If you didn't get a chance to join the livestream, watch the recording below 👇🏾
Did you know that burnout affects over 76% of employees at some point in their careers? The pressure of corporate life is felt by all of us but perhaps not nearly as acutely as Black women in communication roles. Join Deme and Mirasha of The Lotus Club for an honest, intentional conversation about the resources and community available to Black women in comms and how white colleagues can demonstrate meaningful support. We’ll have lots of time for questions, conversation, and opportunities for enacting change.

As we celebrate National Wellness Month, it's crucial to reflect on what wellness truly means, especially for Black women in the workplace. Wellness isn't just about physical health; it's a holistic approach that encompasses our mental, emotional, and social well-being. For Black women, the journey towards wellness can be challenging as we often navigate unique stressors. But wellness is our birthright, and it's time we prioritize it unapologetically. Our co-founders, Deme Jackson and Mirasha B., co-authored a timely article sharing their experiences and providing insights on how Black women can prioritize wellness in the workplace. Let's commit to making wellness a priority, not just this month but every day. 💖 #NationalWellnessMonth #BlackWomenWellness #WorkplaceWellness #SelfCare #Community #MentalHealthMatters #TheLotusClub
