This week, Meyer board member Harold Pettigrew, Jr. (CEO, Opportunity Finance Network) joined legal, business, and community leaders on a panel for PhilanthropyDMV's quarterly Conversation & Cocktails event, titled Race-Conscious Initiatives Amid DEI Rollbacks. Panelists discussed how attendees can better understand and navigate the realities of recent DEI rollbacks, including increased legislative bans and other legal challenges. Questions included: "What should leaders know to make informed – not reactionary – decisions about DEI funding and initiatives?" "How do we purposefully and collectively stay the course to drive equitable solutions for wellbeing and prosperity in the region amidst these growing trends?"

Last week, we attended AfriThrive's special event to meet some of their food funders, see firsthand the impact of their generous support, and be part of the crucial discussions around land access for their incubator farm project! Philanthropy DMV facilitated a panel on land access solutions for food security and equity in Montgomery county. Panelist included Leni Dworkis of Meyer Foundation, Heather Bois Bruskin, Tambra Raye Stevenson, and Caroline Taylor.
