Day 2 at the AnitaB.org Grace Hopper Celebration in Philadelphia, and what an incredible experience! Being surrounded by nearly 15,000 women and non-binary individuals in tech is truly empowering. A special shoutout to Jovanay Carter, a former recruiter at Google who now runs The Dev Difference, an AI platform designed to help people prepare for technical interviews. She was incredibly kind and genuinely passionate about helping others succeed. Jovanay shared invaluable tips on elevator pitches and resumes, and her warmth and encouragement really stood out. I’m so grateful to have connected with her! I also attended a workshop led by three incredible women engineers from Bloomberg: Ishita Mittal, Jiayin (Janice) Peng and Piyusha Jaisinghani. The session, Data Stream Builders, was a hands-on, interactive experience where we designed data pipelines using a deck-building game. It was a fantastic way to highlight the importance of selecting the right technology for complex data challenges. One of the standout sessions today was "No Opportunities Wasted: All You Have Is Your Now" with Angelica Ross. Hearing her story of teaching herself to code and breaking down barriers for marginalized communities was incredibly inspiring. Her multifaceted career—spanning acting, business, music, and technology—proves there’s no single way to make an impact. It's all about forging your own path. Much like Day 1, the rest of my day was spent networking and having Braindates with amazing people. Braindates are interactive, attendee-driven, knowledge-sharing conversations designed to facilitate meaningful connections among the attendees. I even ran into a friend from Mumbai Sia Viji ! It’s amazing how small the world can be. I’m leaving Day 2 feeling inspired and empowered by the incredible women I’ve met and the invaluable insights I’ve gained. The Grace Hopper Celebration has been an unforgettable experience, and I look forward to applying everything I’ve learned. #GHC24 #GraceHopperCelebration #GHC
