The Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) has joined the American Clinical Laboratory Association (ACLA) and HealthTrackRx in suing the FDA to block its regulation of laboratory-developed tests (LDTs) as medical devices. They argue that the FDA lacks the authority to regulate LDTs, which are not like traditional medical devices. AMP and ACLA advocate for modernizing CLIA regulations to support innovation and accuracy in LDTs, citing concerns over the FDA's rule, including high costs, lengthy approvals, and risks to lab innovation. Exact Sciences Corp. has launched its Falcon Registry study for Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) at Baylor Scott & White Health, targeting up to 25,000 patients aged 50-80 with no cancer history.
