Great news! The Children's Home of Reading is a Gold Winner for $15,000 and there is still time to cast your vote to help us create healthier communities through the @GIANT #MakeADifference Challenge. We are looking to expand our Exploration Eats Program to our schools, foster care and other residential programs, but we need your help! Every vote gets us closer to additional funding from The GIANT Company to help us teach kids about different cultures, tolerance, and cooperation, through the universal language of food. View our video and cast your vote by Sept. 27: https://lnkd.in/dkraMFtm We are so grateful The GIANT Company is supporting nonprofit organizations like ours! Thank you for making a difference. Be sure to share with your network and #berkscountypa native #taylorswift too!

About us
The Children’s Home of Reading (CHOR) has evolved into a multi-faceted social service nonprofit offering over 35 specialized mental health, trauma-focused residential, educational, and community-based programs to help over 3,000 at-risk children and their families each year. Today, the services provided are trauma focused and treatment-oriented because the children who pass through our doors face serious barriers to success. They come to us with serious mental health, behavioral challenges, and educational needs. They come to us abused, neglected, and afraid. They come to us without hope. While some have loving families that just don’t know how to help their children get through these difficult days, many of them have not experienced childhood in the way that most of us do. www.buildingkidslives.org Programs: Acute Partial Hospitalization Programs in Schuylkill and Berks counties Foster Care Program Specialized Foster Care Program Adoption Program Post Permanency Program Lehigh Valley In-Home Program Evening Reporting Center in Reading Cardy Day Academy Centre Ave. Academy Girls and Boys Psychological Residential Treatment Programs Specialized Residential Treatment Programs Extended School Year Program

Community Support...is the key to changing future lives of our youth, and families for generations to come. This week, we hosted over 50 volunteers at CHORYFS, and we couldn't be more grateful for their help. We played host to members from Amazon Associates, FirstEnergy, and Conrad Weiser School District, not to mention the lovely Darby Wiekrykas from the United Way of Berks County who coordinated over 400 volunteers for the Day of Caring on September 11. We're Better Together for sure!
