We envision a Chicago region where equity is central and opportunity and prosperity are in reach for all. For over 100 years, forward-looking individuals and families have entrusted their philanthropic resources and visions to the Trust’s stewardship. Our expertise goes to work helping donors translate their funds and passions into innovative and impactful giving strategies. Guided by our deep community knowledge, we make grants, lead, convene, and collaborate to address the greatest and most critical needs facing the Chicago region.

This afternoon, The Chicago Community Trust's Collective Power team hosted a screening of Episode 3 from Shame of Chicago, Shame of the Nation, a docuseries that lays bare the true stories behind how #Chicago and its suburbs devised discriminatory policies to create the nation’s most sweeping system of racially segregated communities — and how the consequences of those policies persist to this day. The Trust is proud to have supported this film. Following the screening, the Trust's Iona Calhoun-Battiste LPC moderated a panel discussion and Q&A with historians and experts from the film, Dr. Charles Branham and Dr. Adam Green. Thank you to Marisa Novara for our opening remarks, to all our attendees for joining, and to the Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for having us. The Liebman Family has spent decades quietly nourishing social, educational and economic causes in the Chicago region and beyond. For the Liebmans, philanthropy is a family value that runs deep. Charles and Mary Liebman, who passed away in 2024 and 2011, respectively, were instrumental in setting an example for their children. Both embodied this belief through their philanthropy, aided by the support and partnership of the Trust. In 2002, the couple used the shares of the company Charles founded in the 1950s to create the PERT Foundation, a supporting organization of the Trust. #Chicago #Philanthropy #AnnualReport Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gwF23JTs

Drawing on the Trust’s expertise as a convener, our Community Impact and Philanthropic Services teams worked together in 2023 to create a year-long experience for donors who gave to the Amplification Fund, an opportunity for donors not only to help local residents who benefit from Trust grantmaking but also connect directly with grant recipients. The first cohort of donors supported the launch of the Trust's Income Growth Solutions funding program. #Chicago #Philanthropy Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gieaa9Mz
