We are so excited to welcome Melissa Ng ( Melissa Goldner ) to The Authentic Asian community! "As an Asian American woman, I’ve always believed that true growth comes from balancing personal healing with professional development. Being part of The Authentic Asian community feels deeply aligned with my passion for Malu because it connects me with women who share a similar journey. Malu was born from my own experiences navigating life’s transitions and challenges, and it has fueled my mission to break the stigma around seeking help in both therapy and career coaching. Together, we empower women to embrace their full potential—whether they’re healing from personal loss or preparing for their next career leap." Melissa Ng is the founder of Malu, a pioneering women-owned company that transforms how women navigate personal and professional transitions. By breaking the traditional silos between therapy and business coaching, Malu creates a holistic space where healing and goal-setting intersect. As a former Partner at global firms like Ogilvy, Accenture, Slalom, and Prophet, Melissa honed her expertise in leading large-scale transformations, but it was her personal journey that inspired the creation of Malu. Melissa is driven by a mission to empower women in transition, providing tools that address both the internal (healing) and external (professional growth) aspects of transformation. So who am I? I’m an Asian American woman with a story, Who’s not quiet. But instead has a fire in her that wants to unleash to the world, To encourage other Asian American women to find their authentic selves, Build genuine connections, And find the strength and courage to tell their own stories. To stand out, and break the ceiling. I’m an Asian American woman who has carried a lot of baggage in per past, Told she’s “too docile”, Not “enough of a tiger”, Who lost her authentic self when raising money in Silicon Valley. I’m an Asian American woman who has now had over 240 women in my community help uplift me, Give me hope through The Authentic Asian , For not only our generation, But the next. Cheers to hope, love, and connection. May we continue to thrive and uplift each other. - ❤️ Misa Inspiration from: Netta Jenkins

Elevating the Future of Work for Adoptees of Color & Foster Care Alumni | Keynote Speaker | Founder | Fundraising Leader | Inclusion & Belonging | MBA

What do 12 different industries and 12 different roles have in common? What do these women who represent 5 different countries have in common? What do the 3 Adoptees have in common with the non-adoptees? What do these women with professional experience ranging between 12 - 30+ years have in common? We share in our experiences as often the one and only Asian woman, at the table, in the room, in leadership, in the sector, in the company, in the C-Suite. This was so resonate for ALL of us, having had this experience once or multiple times across our careers. And stepping into this unique space, where we were there to exclusively and purposefully network with women and femmes who look like us, who are Asian like us, is special beyond words. It's hard to describe the feeling, the connection, but if you are an Asian woman or femme in leadership, it's something you understand is rare to feel. We are authentically Asian. The Authentic Asian is a powerhouse community of incredible Asian female leaders and founders. Our DC Chapter gathered this week for our in-person event, sponsored and hosted by our member Jaya Saxena at the restaurant she owns, The Fountain Inn DC. We had fun. We connected on an authentic level. We built meaningful relationships. We created professional opportunities. We supported an Asian-owned business. 🙌👏 This is what networking can be like, and for me, I am not going back to the way I used to do it. This is more meaningful, effective, and transformative. This is food for my soul each month we gather - it's been a restorative community for me that has also opened some incredible professional and personal opportunities. Find your people. I'm so glad I did. ❤️ Thank you to the incredible Misa Chien for your vision and leadership of dreaming up, building, and scaling The Authentic Asian. We have chapters all over the US, and members globally too. If you are an Asian woman or femme who is often the only in the room, join us! You can be a member no matter where you live. I lead the DC chapter and would love to connect if you have questions. Memberships will be closing in the near future to keep the community intimate and the culture authentic, so please reach out soon if you are interested. A secret of mine: I hate networking events. Over the years I’ve tried to avoid them, or if I had to go, I forced myself to go, with extreme discomfort as both a woman of color and introvert. Networking events aren’t often always safe spaces – I often found myself being hit on by married men, and in unprofessional situations where I felt very uncomfortable. That’s why, when I decided to build out the happy hours/networking events with The Authentic Asian community and our amazing brand ambassadors, I knew something had to change. And I’m so glad we’ve been able to not only create a safe space for Asian American women to network, thrive, and feel less alone and more connected. I even had one The Authentic Asian member come up to me at the last happy hour, saying how refreshing it was that no one was competitive, and everyone was so authentic and transparent. These events and women always make me so happy, and it warms my heart to see such a vibrant and uplifting community. - Misa Chien Founder of The Authentic Asian Want to join us? Wow, so many uplifting and inspiring Asian American women in one place. We had the great honor to collaborate with Dagne Dover in a Happy Hour last week. We brought over 50 women to their store, to learn more about the amazing brand co-founded by Melissa Mash and help support an Asian American female owned company. Huge thanks to the Dagne Dover for helping us put together an amazing event, and brand ambassador Emmelyn Kim for helping to host! So excited for more of these uplifting events to come. My first business [failure] as an entrepreneur was selling rocks on the street at 7 years old with my little sister.   Let’s just say it wasn’t a great business model and the TAM (total addressable market) was very small. I think we only had 2 buyers– my mom and a neighbor. It’s such a funny story that Inc. Magazine ended up featuring us as best childhood businesses. Working parents– if you want your kids to experience lots of rejection, and built lots of perseverance and resilience, I recommend this path. Otherwise, you’re probably better just going the girl scout cookie selling route 😂 Cheers to the entrepreneurs in all of us.  What was your first business? #BusinessGrowth #EntrepreneurMindset #LeadershipLessons #FailForward #BusinessChallenges #workingparents #workingmom #incmagazine
