Big congratulations to Dr. Nancy Ayres, recipient of the 2024 ASE Lifetime Achievement Award! 🎉 Dr. Ayres has transformed pediatric cardiology with her groundbreaking work in cardiovascular ultrasound and fetal cardiology, making a lasting impact on the care of children with congenital heart conditions. We’re thrilled to celebrate Dr. Keila Lopez, who has been honored with the 2024 AAP Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Excellence Award! 🎉🌟 For Dr. Lopez, health equity isn’t just part of her job—it’s her passion. Throughout her career, she’s worked tirelessly to address health disparities affecting underserved populations, particularly those facing socioeconomic challenges. Her research highlights the complex links between health, income, and access to care, and she has been a key voice in advocating for actionable solutions. Dr. Lopez’s dedication to equity has also earned her a place on the 2023 National Latino Leaders list. As a role model for Latinos pursuing careers in medicine, she continues to inspire through her leadership and commitment. We’re excited to share that the Texas Children’s Heart Center Child Life Program has received a $25,000 grant from The Toy Foundation as part of their 2024 Children’s Hospital Play Grants program! This generous gift has filled our Heart Center playroom with new toys and games, boosting our therapeutic play offerings for teen patients in recovery. Play is such an important part of pediatric care, helping kids cope, heal, and feel more at ease during their hospital stay. Thanks to The Toy Foundation, our patients now have even more resources to make their time here brighter and more positive. From a basketball player to a leading physical therapist at Texas Children’s Hospital, Jennifer Morgan, PT, DPT, SCS, MS, CSCS, USAW-1 career journey is all about passion and perseverance. After discovering her true calling in sports therapy, she made her way back to Texas, where she’s been transforming lives for two years. Recently, her expertise helped Houston breakdancer Jeffrey Louis prepare for his debut at the 2024 Summer Olympics, using innovative techniques and a holistic approach.
