Yesterday, the University of California, Berkeley Academic Seismic Replacement Building project team celebrated their on-schedule topping out. Plant installed the last Nordic Structures-produced CLT panel on the 80,000-square-foot structure just nine months after breaking ground. Close collaboration with the University, LMN Architects and TEF Design, FORELL ELSESSER, and all of the hard work from our trade partners made this happen! This building, opening in Fall of 2025, will provide much-needed classrooms and facility offices for many generations to come. #masstimber #construction

This week, we celebrated the topping out ceremony for the new #masstimber Undergraduate Academic Building at University of California, Berkeley – congratulations to the entire project team on this exciting milestone! “A vibrant new epicenter for undergraduate academic life, the building advances UC Berkeley’s Master Plan and Long Range Development Plan. Its design mediates the urban grid of the campus to the north and the riparian ecotone of Strawberry Creek to the south, leveraging its context to connect students to nature and to one another. Notable features include its mass timber construction and open-air corridors that overlook the park setting of the auditorium’s rooftop terrace, and the wild zone of the creek watershed beyond. For students who call California home and those who aspire to experience the ethos of the Golden State, the project’s celebration of intellectual innovation and indoor/outdoor campus life reflects the distinction of a Cal education,” says Alyosha Verzhbinsky, FAIA, Principal at TEF Design. Designed by LMN Architects in collaboration with TEF Design, the five-story, 80,000-square-foot building is being built by Plant Construction Company, LP with structural by FORELL ELSESSER. The only NCI-designated center between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the Stanford Health Care Blake Wilbur Cancer Center is a specialty outpatient facility that supports translational medicine and advances in cancer research and treatment. Located in Palo Alto, the project transforms existing facilities into two cancer-related clinics including the 6,400-square-foot Cancer Infusion Clinic and the 10,000-square-foot Advanced Medical Center. Inside the recently transformed healthcare building, project highlights include: state of the art facilities and equipment to support cancer research and treatment; innovative use of modular systems to maximize flexibility; the integration of vacuum plumbing to maximize flexibility for future change; and, construction completed within an active outpatient center. Rendering to Reality // Checkout the progress of the Shiley Eye Institute renovation as captured by Align Builders. Located on UC San Diego’s East Campus in La Jolla, the project entails a seismic upgrade, modifications to building systems infrastructure to meet current code, and accessibility and path of travel improvements, including a new elevator on the east side of the building to ease patient circulation. Inside, TEF’s transformation of the second floor converts existing labs into clinical spaces.
