Chilean Sea Bass goldfish crackers... because naming really, really matters! Several people have written to me about this charming initiative. My guess is that the Pepperidge Farm people got some data about how many adults are also consuming these little guys. It's to their credit that they've come up with a clever and delightful idea to drive home the point that this same cracker can be for grown-ups. They've sold out more than once, I believe, and gotten incredible press for it, too. There's nothing wrong with a PR stunt if it's a good, strategically sound, and creatively executed one! #brandtrue #brandnaming #naming

Brand Names We Love We're fascinated by the trend towards more and more branding of produce. The avocado distributor that's branding their fruit with the name Bravocado has made an excellent choice. It's so intrinsically tied to the name of the product, and by leveraging a pun manages to scream of excellence with just two additional letters. It's clear, memorable and fun. WORD NERDS, this one is for you... You can't name things for a living without being a Word Nerd. I claim it proudly! And I know many of you who read my stuff are also of this tribe. One of my favorite social media accounts is Merriam-Webster, the dictionary people. Their content is wonderful and yesterday they put out the call for words with spellings that are gaslighting.
