Our President and CEO, Matt Mitchell, met with Lloyd Sowers from FOX13 Tampa Bay yesterday to discuss the exciting progress of our YMCA redevelopment project. Matt emphasized, "We want to make sure this YMCA meets the needs of people who have lived here for 40 or 50 years, but also meets the needs of new individuals coming to town." Did you hear the good news? We’re thrilled to share that the city’s Architectural Review Commission (ARC) has unanimously approved the design plans for our new 70,000-square-foot Central City YMCA! You can read more about our transformative redevelopment project, partners and community impact from Ashley Gurbal Kritzer at: https://lnkd.in/eww8SMhw.
We’re excited to announce that we received unanimous approval from the city’s Architectural Review Commission (ARC) on design plans for the new 70,000 SF YMCA, which will anchor the Central City development. “This new YMCA will enhance the lives of Tampa Heights residents by offering a diverse range of services and programs in a state-of-the-art, accessible facility,” Matt Mitchell, president and CEO of Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA, said in a statement. FleischmanGarciaMaslowski Architecture designed the YMCA. “The new YMCA’s design will bring a vibrant transparency to the neighborhood,” Marcel Maslowski, president and director of design at FleischmanGarciaMaslowski Architecture, said in a statement. “People driving or walking along Palm Avenue and Florida Avenue will have clear views of the activity inside, and the corner entry, framed by tall glass and bricks, creates an inviting porch that welcomes the community.” With this approval, we can finalize all the plans for the Central City development and continue moving the project forward. Stay tuned for more announcements and read more this important milestone from Ashley Gurbal Kritzer at https://lnkd.in/eww8SMhw
