  • Happy Work Anniversary, Valarie Turral! 🎉 Last week marked the 2️⃣4️⃣th work anniversary for Valarie Turral, Billing Specialist. We asked Val to share a few memories as we reflect on her career at TPCA. 1. What made you apply for this job? My former supervisor, Julie Dawson, reached out to me at my previous job and asked if I wanted to come work in the billing department at TPCA. And the rest is history. I'm very happy that I accepted the position. 2. What has been your biggest achievement/success? It's important for me to raise my kids and provide for my family. Working for TPCA is a very important part of that. TPCA took a chance on me with only two years of billing experience and limited coding experience. As the years went by, I have learned so much about this position with the help of managers and supervisors. That has boosted my confidence in my job performance and makes me confident in the help I give to my co-workers and the office managers. Success to me is when I receive a call from a very upset patient, and by the end of that call, their tone has changed because I listened and understood their frustration. I was instrumental in putting a patient at ease. Patients put their trust in us [TPCA] as their medical provider, and I value that relationship. My grandfather always told me to be a light to others. Congratulations, Val, on 24 years at TPCA! We are a better organization because of your dedication to the Billing department and everyone you interact with at TPCA.

  • Upgraded CT Scanner is a 'Game-Changer' for TPCA Patients We've upgraded our CT (Computed Tomography) scanner to a GE Revolution EVO128 slice scanner. “Slice” refers to the number of rows of detectors the scanner has. GE Revolution EVO 128 slice features intelligent technology designed to help us acquire high-quality images using lower doses of radiation, contributing to more accurate diagnoses and lower exposures for patients. With several dose-lowering capabilities, it allows us to manage, monitor, and measure the dose delivery to our patients. Our 128-slice scanner lets our Imaging team scan all patient sizes, including children, with diagnostic confidence. The ability to obtain excellent image quality within seconds is particularly important for emergency cases. For more information about TPCA's Diagnostic Imaging Services, please call 850-942-6624.

  • It’s hashtag #TPCAWay Friday! Verona Woodson, the fabulous Billing Specialist, is celebrating her 20-year anniversary working at TPCA. In this highlight, we asked Verona to reflect on the last 20 years. What made you apply for this job? Two things:  I was in search of a more pleasant & new environment, after working at TMH's central billing office, for almost 4 years, in the "inpatient" billing & coding department, and I wanted to broaden my knowledge, learning more about "outpatient" billing & coding. Doing this, brought everything into full circle. What has been my biggest achievement/success? One of our previous managers, Darlene Earl, took me under her wings and taught me so much about billing and coding prior to everything being electronic. She taught me the importance of "correct coding" when it comes to patient's health records. It peaked my interest, so much so, she would oftentimes encourage me to pursue my billing and coding certification. I did so, unbeknownst to her or anyone else, and received my billing and coding certification, in 2012, from TCC. That was one of my greatest achievements, while working here at TPCA. I also developed a good working relationship, with the ladies, here in central billing. We're a family, and I love each of them. As far as "Success" is concerned, for me, being successful isn't about receiving accolades, honorable mentions, job titles, or how much money one makes. It's about the number of people we help along the way, as God continues to bless us, to be a blessing to others. Making sure, that others see YOUR light, before they see you.  Now THAT, to me, is Success. 😊 Well said, Verona. Thanks for dedicating 20-years to TPCA!
