🌿 We are thrilled to introduce a new addition to our portfolio — SUBMIX, INC. 🔊 Their mission is to empower all existing and aspiring audio professionals by allowing them to quickly connect, collaborate, and create in a supportive environment. Ultimately, making it easier for them to both be successful and be creative, while generating income. Submix’s co-founder Chris Galvin has been working on ways to collaborate remotely with other producers since the 90s and early 2000s. In 2019, he and Douglas Barr started building the early version of Submix to help Audio Professionals be successful no matter where they were located. In 2022, they were ready to take on this goal full-time. They asked Paul Jeszenszky to join and help launch Submix commercially. I will be speaking at and attending the Prague Composers Summit next week. I could not agree more: “If there's anyone within electronic music who deserves the flush of an emphatic score and a lengthy reappraisal, it's Jeff Mills and Underground Resistance.” Back in the 90s, during my time at React America, I had the privilege of working on this record. My role involved managing college radio promotions and distributing this release to various college stations. Given our status as a small label and having a small budget, I had to carefully select which stations to target. Promoting this CD posed challenges, as many of those station curators were unfamiliar with the mix's concept (or they didn’t care). This mix was so ahead of its time and remains one of my all-time favorites (always a 10/10 :-). I continue to share stories about this mix with anyone who will listen (old guy standing on the lawn). My late colleague, Aldo Bender, and I would often blast it in the React office (formerly located in the old Death Row offices on Sunset Blvd). I have such fond memories of this mix.
