It was great to work with Matthew Trimble Matt Culver on this piece. So glad to see it done after all this time!!! Congrats!
In the Fall of 2014 the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA), Green Line Extension (GLX), Public Art Commission sent out a request for proposals for the creation of integral art for the new GLX train stations to be built in the City of Cambridge, City of Somerville, and City of Medford, Medford, MA 02155. I initially won the commission to design architecturally integrated art at Ball Square Station. Later, when asked if I would instead focus my attention on Union Square Station, I invited my dear friend and former colleague Matt Culver to co-design a new project with me. This project, called PASSAGE, was recently completed, just 10 years after the initial commission. I’m so glad to be able to share this project with you, and hope you’ll visit it the next time you’re in the City of Boston area, or passing through Union Square, or visiting Höweler+Yoon Architecture, LLP’s magnificent multi-residential tower at 50 Prospect St. Created by: Matthew Trimble and Matt Culver Structural Engineering by: Studio NYL Structure by: Upstate Steel, Inc Panels by: Branch Technology Public Artists Exhibition: Christine Vaillancourt Many Thanks to GLX Constructors Special Thanks to the MBTA’s Marggie Lackner
