Student Union, Inc. of SJSU

Reflecting on my two years as an AV Tech at Student Union, Inc. of SJSU, I had the privilege of working under the guidance of Erick and Aaron. Our team catered to a myriad of events on campus, providing top-notch audio, video, lighting, and live streaming services. From large-scale events like the annual Spartan Fest with a footfall of 5,000 Spartans to semi-annual graduations with 6,000 students, and various cultural events and international conferences, each event was an opportunity to learn and grow. The experience was invaluable, and I am grateful to Erick Campos, Aaron Anderson, Omar Garcia, M.Ed., and my teammates for making the journey memorable. The skills and experiences gained during this period have greatly contributed to my professional growth. I'm happy to share that today at our Student Union, Inc. of SJSU Board of Directors meeting, I was elected as the 2024-2025 Chairperson of the Board. I am beyond grateful and excited to continue my journey and leadership with this incredible organization! For context, the Student Union, Inc. of SJSU is a 501(c)3 non-profit auxiliary that operates and oversees the Spartan Recreation Activites Center, the Diaz Compean Student Union Building, and the Provident Credit Union Events Center at San Jose State University. I served on the Board this past year as an Ex-Officio member due to my role as the Associated Students, SJSU President/ CEO. Throughout my term, I was able to identify many areas in which we could expand collaboration, advocacy, and initiate new projects. Thank you to the Board of Directors for trusting in my abilities as a leader. Looking forward to this next year!

When our alumni look back at the good times they spent on campus, Finals Week may not be the first thing that comes to mind. But we’re doing all we can to make things as painless as possible for the students putting ink to Blue Book this week. From snacks and testing supplies at our Finals Week Resources kiosks, to hydration at the Cesar Chavez Community Action Center, to events at the Student Union, Inc. of SJSU , we’re giving away everything but answer keys. (Sorry, Spartans.) Congratulations to our students on a great semester, and good luck with exams!
