The University of Utah has taken a major step towards transforming its traditionally commuter-based campus into a residential hub by approving a public-private partnership with American Campus Communities. This collaboration will result in the construction of a 1,450-bed student housing facility at the intersection of Mario Capecchi and South Campus Drives, with completion projected for fall 2026. The $155 million project will be funded and developed by American Campus Communities, which will also assume the majority of development risks. The university will manage and finance an additional 17,000 square feet of amenity space, including a gaming hub and fitness area, costing around $12 million.
