SCA intern Sam Yakubowski spends his days monitoring the water quality and overall health of the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve in New York. The Reserve spans 100 miles of the Hudson River Estuary and protects nearly 5,000 acres of diverse tidal wetlands and upland habitat. "I’ve been getting into a groove with my current SCA position. I’m fabricating things, fixing electronics, calibrating instruments, doing analytical chemistry, and so much more. Gratitude comes easy when you get to spend time on the coast of a river that my family’s had a connection with for generations. It’s meaningful to protect the natural resources I love in this way. I wouldn’t have dreamed of finding my way here without the SCA." —Sam Yakubowski, System-Wide Monitoring Program (SWMP) Intern This could be you. #JoinTheCrew 📷: Courtesy of Sam Yakubowski NYS Department of Environmental Conservation NOAA Centers for Coastal Ocean Science Scenic Hudson, Inc.
