Last month our CEO and Co-Founder, Nassim Abdi, had the terrific opportunity to co-present with Syeria Smith, Sr. Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and Campus Recruiting at Belk, at SHRM’s 2022 Inclusion conference in San Diego. Charlotte-based Belk, Inc., a privately-owned department store, opened its first store in 1888. It began a legacy of selling great products at great prices, treating customers like family, and giving back to the community. Shoutout to Syeria for her practical tips and inspiration. Inspired and invited by Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., to talk at the conference, their discussion explored the role of storytelling in developing empathy, and how empathy-based competencies play a key role in workplace inclusion and allyship. After viewing a screening of the inspiring documentary, “A Woman in Motion”, audience members reflected upon their impressions of the film, the impact it had on them, and ultimately how they can bring the concepts they learned into their diversity, inclusion, and equity practices in the workplace. Check out the video below to see the recap of the impactful day. https://lnkd.in/gdAtQkqN #SHRM #Inclusion #leadership #SHRMInclusion #empathy

🎉 Today is #Juneteenth, and we at StoryBolt are beaming with pride as we reflect on the incredible session held on Monday with Discover Financial Services and their #BOLDERG team. Under the leadership of DEI advocates and experts --looking at all of you incredible leaders, Sonya Byers, Jenise Spears, Camille DeCicco, Brandon Frost, Lauren Anoma (Smith), Rehanna Johnson, Joy Canonigo, Sapna Patel, and Jonita Wilson, PHR 👀👀👀-- we had the privilege of presenting Loki Mulholland’s powerful film, #TheUncomfortableTruth, to the company. This session was a true testament to the genuine and impactful work Discover Financial Services is doing to embed #diversity, #equity, and #inclusion into the core of their organization, and a profound experience where we tackled uncomfortable but essential conversations to foster real learning and understanding of #Juneteenth. The engaging discussions that followed, skillfully facilitated by Obella Obbo, highlighted the core of our mission at StoryBolt—bringing impactful stories to organizations to create spaces for better #understanding, #empathy, and #CHANGE. We are immensely proud of our partnership with Discover Financial Services and grateful for the inspiring dialogue we witnessed. A heartfelt thank you to the #DEI team at Discover, the BOLD ERG, and filmmaker Loki Mulholland for joining us in this transformative experience. Check out the trailer for “The Uncomfortable Truth” in the comments. #Juneteenth #DiversityEquityInclusion #StorytellingforCHANGE #DiscoverFinancials #UncomfortableTruth

At Inspire11, we understand that true progress in diversity and inclusion comes from open, honest, and sometimes challenging conversations. This Black History Month, Inspire11 is partnering with StoryBolt to dive into the powerful narrative "Descended from the Promised Land: The Legacy of Black Wall Street.” This film represents a pivotal moment in history that showcases the heights of African American entrepreneurship and community, and the devastating impacts of racial violence. Our goal goes beyond historical reflection; we aim to better understand its impact on our present and how we, as a company and individuals, can contribute to a more equitable society for all. #blackhistorymonth #inspireabettertomorrowforall
