We believe it’s time to change the way we do business. For a long time, non-compete agreements have been a standard in the #logistics industry, but we recognize that agreement is one sided. This exploitative labor practice only benefits employers while hurting the very people that make up the company. All employees should be able to make the best choice for themselves and their families.  Today we’re launching https://lnkd.in/e_xZ2nf3. The site has resources for learning about how non-compete contracts harm employees and important questions to ask an interviewer before you sign one. If you’re looking for employment in the logistics industry, check out the detailed list of all the companies that don’t require a non-compete contract.  Visit https://lnkd.in/e_xZ2nf3 to watch the full roundtable discussion and pledge today.  #endnoncompetes #peopleoverprofit #3plcompanies

Just had a meeting with a customer about their small package agreement. They had great incentives initially, but unfortunately, due to misrepresented volume, they're facing 0% in revenue bands as incentives phase out. To avoid such situations, consider the following when dealing with carriers: - Clearly state what volume you can commit to from other carriers and be realistic. - Be realistic with your growth projections. - Do your homework on your volume and customer profile to present accurate information to the carriers. Many customers lack insight into their volume and the incentives suitable for their profile, leaving them at a disadvantage. This is where carriers hold the upper hand, but Steam Logistics can assist you in navigating these complexities. Don't risk going in blind; seek guidance to ensure a successful partnership. #parcelshipping #savings #logistics

Today's episode of The Freight Pod follows the journey of Jason Provonsha and the path of Steam Logistics to becoming the 36th largest brokerage in the industry. Jason walks us through his career progression from door-to-door sales to publishing to eventually finding his passion in freight brokerage working alongside the likes of Ted Alling and Chad Eichelberger at Access America Transport. After the AAT acquisition by Coyote, Jason would eventually join the early team at Steam. This episode gives us our first in-depth look at international freight forwarding and customs brokerage, which were Steam's primary service offerings while it's founders sat out a 7 year domestic freight non-compete. Once that expired, the company's growth exploded as they transformed themselves into a multi-modal 3PL in 2021. My favorite part of this episode was our conversation about culture. It's clear that Jason and his team have spent a lot of time building their culture with intention, and he explains how that process came to be. Steam's people (Steve Cox deserves a shoutout) are loud and proud of their organization, as evidenced regularly on social media. When employees often advocate for the business on their own accord, it's a sign they are happy. And happy employees generally make for happy customers in this business. We also get into the organizational nuance of Steam, talking about the benefits of a flat org structure as well as the cradle-to-grave pod model they deploy. Jason made for a great guest and I'm confident anyone in the industry will learn something from the conversation. The episode is live on all streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc) and full video is available on YouTube. Follow The Freight Pod for marketing clips and further updates.
