QALICBs aren't just enterprises; they're catalysts for positive change. Our New Markets Tax Credits team proudly works alongside these impact-driven businesses as they develop their communities. Quick question: Did you know how to pronounce it when you first saw it? We asked our NMTC Project Manager Emily Dalton this question and she said "When I first saw the acronym 'QALICB', I was actively spelling it out when I talked about it. I said "Q-A-L-I-C-B" until I attended the Fall Novogradac Conference in New Orleans and the speakers made jokes about all of the wrong ways people pronounce it. For example: "Queue-Lick-Bee" (not to be confused with "Queue-Lick-ee" which stands for Qualified Low Income Community Investment). It is correctly pronounced "Kwaw-lick-bee". It is definitely a mouth full, and there is no shortage of acronyms to know in New Markets Tax Credits!" #developbetter #termstoknow #NMTC

We’re thrilled that Danielle Winningham and Tanner Jones had the chance to speak at this year’s True South Economic Development cohort at The University of Southern Mississippi. Their session focused on community and neighborhood development, specifically addressing special neighborhood economic development issues—insights that truly resonated with the participants. Additionally, we were proud to have our intern, Ignacio Vanecek Kaddour, a Southern Miss College of Business and Economic Development MBA student, attend the True South training. This experience not only enriched his knowledge but also reinforced our commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders in economic development. We are looking forward to more impactful collaborations ahead! 🚀 #EconomicDevelopment #TrueSouth #FutureLeaders #SteadfastCity #DevelopBetter
