The only difference between you and I is that I cannot hear. We can still drive, watch TV with closed captions, and rely on light or vibrations for any alarms. I thankfully work with amazing people at State Farm; they make sure to always include me and for that I am forever thankful." Erick Bryant's passion for entrepreneurship has always shined brightly, even before becoming a State Farm independent contractor agent.   "My journey into the insurance industry began when working for a telemarketing company selling health insurance. I decided to leave and venture into a shoe repair business with a friend who had an interest in investment work. Together, we worked hard to develop and expand the business. Once we were in a place to hire and pass down the day-to-day operations, I stepped into a State Farm agent office for the first time in search of a team member position."   Erick's interest was piqued as he gained an understanding of the State Farm agent opportunity.   "Through the agent aspirant program offered by my agent, I learned about the relationship between State Farm and State Farm agents, as well as the impact we can make in the lives of customers. When I made the decision to pursue becoming an agent, I was selected for an opportunity and relocated across the state of Florida.   "Moving to a new area posed its challenges, but I was quickly welcomed from both the community and fellow State Farm agents. The camaraderie that comes with this unique career allows me to run a business while fostering a sense of unity. Disability Pride Month holds a special significance for claim team manager, Kimberly, who is legally blind, color blind, and extremely photophobic (sensitive to light).   "I am a wife, mother of seven, and successful professional at State Farm, born legally blind.   "When I began my career at State Farm more than 20 years ago, I didn’t have the confidence to communicate my needs. However, partnering with our digital accessibility team transformed my experience. I was provided assistive technologies, such as screen readers and magnification software, enabling me to access digital content and perform tasks that would have been challenging otherwise. They wanted me to be successful and I felt empowered."    For Kimberly, Disability Pride Month provides an opportunity for open and honest dialogue, fostering an inclusive environment.   "I personally appreciate the chance to discuss my disability. I believe I can inspire others who may be hiding their full potential. Although he never considered becoming an insurance agent, when given the chance to give back to his community, Will made it his mission to make a difference. "Starting a small business in Memphis, the city where I was born and raised, was a very special experience for me.
