The term premium on the 10yr US Treasury recently broke into positive territory as political elections moved to the forefront of financial media over the last month. Coverage of fiscal issues has intensified ahead of the US election; assessments of the economic impacts of each candidate's policy proposals seem to have brought fiscal sustainability concerns to the surface, with neither party prioritizing tighter fiscal policy. As detailed here, such worries appear to have propelled term premiums higher as investors price in risks associated with the fiscal profligacy that neither party seems inclined to rein in. #STTInsights
