About us
State government is more than senators, representatives, and elected officials. We build highways, provide drivers licenses, protect our children and vulnerable populations, create jobs, connect Hoosiers to job opportunities, maintain state parks, train law enforcement officers, and we run museums and hospitals. We also provide unemployment insurance, disability, and workers compensation, among countless other services. We're 30,000 strong and still have more work to do. Find out where you fit with us at WorkForIndiana.IN.gov.

DNR Preservation Officer Holly Tate didn’t always know that historic preservation as a field of work was a thing. But after a chance visit to the home of the US’s seventh President Andrew Jackson during a big restoration, Holly knew that historic preservation was the career for her. Now, she works for the Indiana DNR Division of Historic Preservation & Archaeology (DHPA) whose mission is to promote the conservation of Indiana’s cultural resources. As a DHPA preservation officer, Holly helps protect historic Indiana properties by helping their owners and local governments get those properties listed on the state and national registers. For Holly, a tangible record of our history and heritage such as a bridge or old building makes that history more real and understandable to people, as seeing resources in person makes a difference. Holly was featured in Outdoor Indiana’s Hoosier DNR Chat in the May/June 2024 issue. Subscribe to get the bimonthly magazine at OutdoorIndiana.org. #IndianaDNR #HistoricPreservation
