A SECOND AMENDMENT AWAKENING IN THE U.S. JEWISH COMMUNITY "Synagogues that used to ignore security altogether or that would rely exclusively on local law enforcement are now asking those community members who are able to carry firearms (where legal) to do so at services and are forming community security groups to protect facilities and congregants. While this trend is ultimately a good thing for community safety, it is a sad reflection on the rising, virulent and increasingly violent antisemitism in a country that has been so welcoming to Jews." Very proud of my colleagues in the Jewish Communal Security space, Rabbi Yossi Eilfort, Yehuda Remer and Yonatan Stern for sharing the stark reality of boots-on-the-ground, grassroots Jewish communal safety efforts. The SSCNA is singularly focused on creating effective volunteer first responders within our own communities.
About us
Jewish communities that have the resources to utilize armed security generally only do so only on Shabbat and holidays due to financial constraints. This leaves weekday minyanim, classes and other synagogue and community gatherings unprotected. If every Jewish life matters, then any gathering of Jews in their synagogues and community institutions deserves to be protected. SSCNA is singularly focused on creating effective first responders within our own communities. Acknowledging the reality that police cannot be everywhere at all times, the only way to ensure our communities are protected against violent hate crimes, active threats and terrorist attacks is to take responsibility for and effectively manage our own security. The Synagogue Security Council of North America is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing lifesaving skills and technology to committed members of the Jewish community, helping to create safer synagogues and cultivate cost-free, capable and effective first responders within every minyan. We do this by providing standardized technology systems, training and certification programs to community volunteers, giving them with the necessary tools and skills to help prevent or respond to a multi-casualty event.

The 1st ANNUAL SSCNA JEWISH INSTRUCTOR RETREAT is a wrap! It was great to connect with Jewish communal security leaders who came together from all over the country to strategize on community safety, leverage commonalities, learn, train and pray. We are honored to have had leadership from Magen Am (CA and AZ), 613 Guard (MA), Chabad.org, MAGEN Chicago, Synagogue Security Initiative (SSI) / Lone Star Haganah, Synagogue Security Council of North America, and NYS Jewish Gun Club in attendance. A big shout out to Rick Robertson for driving this concept to fruition, generously sharing his deep expertise and leading the training sessions; and Chiam Naiditch for managing the culinary logistics. This would not have happened without your vision and dedication. Shkoyach! I hope to see you all next year on the west coast! #jewishcommunitysafety #synagoguesecurity #jewishcommunalsecurity #jewishcommunity #bringthemhomenow #strongertogether #communitysecurity #jewishsolidarity

ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL This memorial day, I express a solemn debt of gratitude to all of the fallen in service to our country. To all of my veteran friends who lost buddies, friends and colleagues, thank you for your service and I am sorry for your loss. To all of the gold star families, thank you for your sacrifice, and the ultimate sacrifice your loved one made, it matters to me. It is not lost on me that we live in a country where life, liberty and freedom reigns because of the willingness of good men and women to give everything, including their lives, for our country. 🙏
