🧐👩👧👦💙 It's Foster Care Tip Tuesday! Did you know that the Reasonable and Prudent Parenting Standard (RPPS) does not apply to foster children placed in a therapeutic foster environment? Per R21-6-306 Supervisory Responsibilities and R21-6-331 Requirements for Certification to Provide for Specialized Services, foster children placed in a therapeutic environment are required to have constant supervision. 🚗🤩💜 Pure Luxury Tint and Detailing in Chandler, hosted a special boot camp for Native American children who live in foster homes or single-parent households to encourage and inspire these children to create or develop their own businesses. With the support of Three Precious Miracles, Native American children from New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico were also able to partake in this special boot camp that ended with over $5000 of towels, buckets, machines, and other detailing equipment being distributed. The National Resource Center on The Link between Animal Abuse and Human Violence shares a variety of statistics relating to the shocking connection including one statement on how "abusing pets is one of the most significant markers of those most at risk of becoming batterers". 🤔 👨👩👧 💚 The thought of fostering children older than elementary age can be scary as the typical teen hormones and trauma can be an intimidating combination, but even with the extra care that these kiddos need, teens are the best age range to foster! Why? You can provide family dinners for a teen who has never had them. Teens sleep through the night (and sometimes half the morning). You can provide a home to come back to after teens go to college. Teens will let you know when your old clothes are back in style. Less time on the phone with tech support; your teens can help with your I.T. issues. You won’t have to read teens the same book fifteen times every night. You won’t have to guess what they need as they can tell you themselves. One of DCS's major goals for 2024 is to decrease the number of youth in congregate care to no more than 10%, meaning we need family foster homes for 644 youth. The quickest, easiest, and most successful way to do this is for our current licensed foster families to open up their age range to include older youth. Interested in fostering teens?
