Today SPINNOVA®announced its H1 2024 results. The highlights of the period included the Letter of Intent (LOI) signed with our partner Suzano regarding plans for a 20kt wood-based production facility, updated strategy and targets as well as commercial product launches with brand partners BESTSELLER and Luhta Sportswear Company. Major milestones were reached also after the period by signing a LOI with ECCO about our joint venture Respin's leather-waste based fibre's future production scaling and commercialisation plans and the strategic partnership agreement with Valmet, who will deliver main equipment for future factories. SPINNOVA® and Valmet have signed a Partnership Agreement regarding the delivery of process equipment for Spinnova’s customers. According to the agreement, Spinnova has appointed Valmet as the exclusive partner to supply process equipment to Spinnova's technology customers. The exclusivity is limited in time and scope and includes an exclusivity fee based on realized project deliveries. Spinnova does not expect this to have a material impact on its 2024 financials. Spinnova and ECCO signed a Letter of Intent regarding plans for the joint venture company, Respin. According to the letter, both parties are committed to scaling up operations and aim to reach a final decision on the production scaling and commercialisation of Respin. This year, Respin has achieved promising results in developing fibre made from leather waste. ECCO has successfully created a prototype shoe using fibre from Respin’s pilot line, produced with Spinnova technology. The new silhouettes from the collaborative collection with SOFiA iLMONEN, featured on the Fashion in Helsinki runway in May, drew inspiration from the corset's controversial history. “For centuries, the corset was worn due to its positive associations with status and beauty, while also serving as a symbol of oppression. I wanted to design a collection that acknowledges the corset's historical significance while simultaneously challenging its restrictions with my design philosophy. I appreciate working with SPINNOVA® fibre as it creates zero side streams, which is in line with my zero-waste pattern cutting approach,” says Sofia Ilmonen. Spinnova continues to collaborate with Luhta Sportswear Company and released a t-shirt made with SPINNOVA® fibre. The t-shirt is part of Rukka's 2024 Olympic collection and is the brand's first product containing SPINNOVA® fibre available online for consumers. It comes in two different colours, deep blue and white, and is made from a blend of 29% wood-based SPINNOVA® fibre, 68% cotton, and 3% elastane.
