Here’s how: ❶ The solution analyzes the vast amount of data collected by onboard sensors alongside meteorological information. ❷ In the next step, it creates consumption models for each ship and allows real-time activity and performance monitoring. ❸ This data then feeds into the solution, allowing for a continuous improvement cycle. 📣 Cadeler’s Wind Zaratan has installed 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐞 at Skyborn Renewables Yunlin offshore wind farm. This milestone highlights the progress of Taiwan's first wind farm with monopile foundations: a project that overcame numerous challenges. The first setback came before the first foundation was even installed when pipelayer Sapura Energy Berhad LTS 3000, originally tasked with the job, suffered a crane failure in mid-March 2020 while working for ONGC in India. The installation campaign still kicked off in 2020, with Sapura 3500 installing the first monopiles. By 2022, 14 of the 80 monopiles were installed, leading to the contract’s termination. In 2022, NPCC Engineering Pvt. Limited's DLS 4200 resumed the installation, dealing with the challenging soft seabed conditions that resulted in pile run incidents. Jumbo Maritime’s HLC Fairplayer removed the sunken piles earlier this year. Fred. Olsen Windcarrier-chartered Blue Wind completed the job. On the turbine front, Fred Olsen’s Brave Tern kicked off the installation in 2021, with first power delivered the same year. Cadeler stepped in during 2023 to complete the remaining 58 turbines, concluding the campaign in 2024. 🔋𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? The offshore industry’s adoption of 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 (ESS) has grown steadily. The first significant uptake came in 2018, with 12 retrofits in the sector, but since 2023, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲. Another turnaround is anticipated, however, as newbuilds are increasingly incorporating this technology. ESS is a medium-term strategy to 𝐜𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐲 𝟏𝟎-𝟏𝟓%, 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠.
