Last week, a group of dedicated Delta Air Lines employees hosted a meaningful event at The Ridge Nature Area— Covenant House Georgia Sleep Out! Participants spent the night outdoors, raising awareness and over $1,200 for youth experiencing homelessness. We’re honored that one of our parks could support such an impactful cause.

About us
Elevating nature through exceptional stewardship. Southern Conservation Trust is a land trust founded in 1993 to preserve greenspace as our community develops. The Trust protects greenspace, conserves forests, safeguards rivers, shelters wildlife, provides environmental education, and ensures that everyone has equal access to nature in our own communities. We currently conserve and protect more than 57,000 acres across 11 states including Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Texas, and Colorado. The Trust works with landowners who wish to permanently protect the ecological, agricultural, scenic or historic qualities of their land. Participating landowners may be eligible to receive significant tax benefits for donating land to the Trust or permanently protecting it from development with a conservation easement. The Trust owns, manages and protects over 57,261 acres, including four donated preserves throughout the state of Georgia. We manage eight public nature areas in Fayette County: Flat Creek Nature Area and Somerby Woods Nature Area in Peachtree City, the Line Creek Nature Area on the border of Fayette and Coweta counties, Sams Lake Bird Sanctuary south of Fayetteville, Morgan Grove south Fayette County, Nesmith Preserve at Starr's Mill High School, The Ridge Nature Area in Fayetteville, and Wildcat Woods behind Whitewater High School.

Busy weekend for us at Southern Conservation Trust! At Shred & Recycle Day in City Center Park, we collected 5 bins of glass for recycling through our Ripple Glass bin at the Nature Center Annex. 🎉 We also had a booth at Ray Day in Serenbe, celebrating environmental awareness and sustainability. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported! ♻️ #Recycling #RippleGlass #RayDay2024 #Sustainability

Our education team had an amazing time with Oak Grove Elementary, where we introduced 80 participants to the fascinating world of insects and decomposers! Through this fun and interactive program, students learned about arthropods, invertebrates, and their essential role in the food chain. From compost piles to pollinator gardens, they discovered how these tiny creatures help break down nutrients and support ecosystems. #FieldTrip #NatureCenter #EnvironmentalEducation

Join us on the second Saturday of each month from 10am - 1pm for our Community Volunteer Days! In October, we will be cleaning and organizing our "garden classroom". This is an outdoor teaching space that we want to utilize for future educational programs. The space has become a bit of a storage area, so we will be going through everything to determine what can be reorganized, what can be donated, and what can be recycled. Help us with this instant gratification project to improve educational opportunities for our community! Plus, if the farm garden is doing well the volunteers might be able to take home some fresh produce, or maybe even some extra plants Sign up here: https://lnkd.in/eqi8nddR
