Earlier this year, we kicked off the 3rd Cohort of the Accelerate: Frontline Leader Development Program, and recently celebrated 20 SJI Leaders' successful completion of the 5-month program. This program is targeted at upskilling frontline leaders in key leadership skills such as leveraging strengths, setting effective team objectives, driving performance, creating inclusive and engaged workplaces, and delivering coaching and development opportunities to help foster the growth of themselves, their team, and SJI. As part of the program, participants attended workshops and coaching sessions. Through assessments and intersession activities, leaders gained insight into their strengths and communication styles to lead high performing teams to help drive results within their teams to meet the company’s strategic initiatives. We concluded the program by inviting leaders from all levels and diverse leadership backgrounds to share their leadership journeys and experiences with our graduates through a panel discussion. Their insight was appreciated and will help shape the future leadership development initiatives at our organization. South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas, subsidiaries of SJI, announced that they have received New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) approval to significantly expand their energy efficiency programs, providing increased energy and cost-saving opportunities for residential, commercial, & industrial customers. The new program cycle will begin January 1, 2025, and run through June 30, 2027. “SJI and our subsidiaries remain committed to providing safe, reliable, affordable energy to our over 735,000 natural gas customers throughout the State. By prioritizing energy efficiency, we aim to provide customers with energy-saving tools and resources that help reduce emissions and drive positive environmental outcomes,” - Melissa Orsen, President, SJI Utilities. The programs include rebates and on-bill repayment options for energy efficiency equipment upgrades, an efficient products marketplace featuring discounted smart thermostats, free weatherization measures for moderate-income customers, and tailored solutions for commercial and industrial customers. Our Employee Resource Group, American Association of Blacks in Energy - South Jersey Chapter (AABE-SJC) recently hosted a game night at our Folsom headquarters. The event included games, delicious treats, and networking opportunities as participants came together for an evening of fun. In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, AABE-SJC dedicated the evening to raising awareness for breast cancer, uniting in the fight against the disease while honoring survivors and remembering those we have lost. A special thank you to our AABE Executive Team for organizing this event and to all who participated!

Christie has been honored in recognition of her commitment to and support of the College’s mission and students. We were proud to have SJI employees attend the 32nd Annual Scholarship Gala to celebrate Christie's achievements. The Gala is the Foundation’s signature fundraising event of the year, providing financial support for students at UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ. SJI’s Employee Resource Group, The Green Team, recently joined New Jersey Audubon for Volunteer Planting Day. Together, they planted 200 native trees and shrubs at Cape May Point State Park. It was a wonderful day of teambuilding, connecting with nature, and supporting an incredible local organization. Founded in 1897, New Jersey Audubon fosters environmental awareness and a conservation ethic among New Jersey’s citizens, protects New Jersey’s animals and plants, and promotes the conservation of New Jersey’s valuable natural habitats. A big thank you to Margo Carr, Environmental Manager, Pat Coan, Government Affairs Specialist, and Andrew Lau, Engineer IV, for organizing and leading this effort and to all our employee volunteers for participating!

At SJI, we’re committed to supporting the communities we serve. The SJI Wellness Program, in partnership with our Employee Resource Group, the Veterans Engagement Team (VETS), recently organized a blood drive at our Folsom and Atlantic City headquarters. Together, they collected a total of 53 donations, exceeding our goal of 50. We’re proud to support the American Red Cross in their mission of providing life-saving resources and services to those in need. The American Red Cross New Jersey Region proudly serves more than 8.8 million people living in the state. A special thank you to our Wellness Program and VETS ERG for organizing this event and to all who volunteered. Thank you for contributing to this worthy cause!

SJI was proud to serve as Patron Sponsor for The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) Annual Corporate Awards Dinner, for the third year. SJI team members Lisa Cottman, MBA, Talent Attraction Program Manager, and Will Smith, VP, Office of Operational Excellence, and member of the AACCNJ board of directors, attended the awards dinner ceremony last Friday. This week, Christie McMullen, president and CEO, Elizabethtown Gas, moderated a panel at the inaugural Women’s Leadership Symposium, presented by the Southern Gas Association and Northeast Gas Association. The event highlighted the unique careers of women in the natural gas industry and provided opportunities for women to share experiences and build professional relationships across multiple sectors of the industry.
