Innovation. Grown Locally.

About us

Sonoma Clean Power makes renewable energy accessible to Sonoma and Mendocino County residents and businesses, with competitive rates and big community benefits. SCP first began service in 2014 as California’s second Community Choice Aggregation (CCA). A key part of our work is to ensure that everyone is brought along in the transition toward a clean energy future, and that customers who will benefit most from cost savings, improved air quality, and increased energy efficiency can participate in SCP’s services and programs. Renewable energy is a solution which SCP customers can be part of today, not years from now. By taking advantage of our offerings, customers can reduce their utility costs and help clean up California’s electric grid. Visit our Customer Center in Downtown Santa Rosa to explore energy-efficient technologies, customer programs and incentives, and any billing related questions you may have.

Something we see on social media a lot is that “Sonoma Clean Power and CCAs are a scam.” But did you know that CCAs were actually created to increase transparency in the energy industry after the California Energy Crisis? In this week’s FAQ Friday, Geof and Deb tell the story of how the disastrous events of 2000-2001 inadvertently paved the way for the creation of Sonoma Clean Power and Community Choice Aggregation.

Our friends at Conservation Corps North Bay recently took advantage of SCP's Non-Profit EV Incentives, and had this to say about why it was important to them: "As a job training program that focuses on preparing local youth for careers in the environmental sector, it is important to us to work toward electrifying our fleet to be in alignment with our mission. As a nonprofit organization, we are continually looking for ways to steward the income we earn and receive, spend it wisely, and save where we can. The rebate helped us do that, especially at a time when vehicle costs have increased significantly since the pandemic. We have been working to replace the vehicles our staff use for corpsmember support services and meetings outside the office with EVs to lower our gas bills and align with our environmental focus. While it’s not yet financially feasible for us to electrify the heavy-duty portion of our fleet that is used in the field for our work projects, we are happy to see the team using our EVs for other work activities throughout our community instead of using their personal gas-powered cars. Not long after our new Bolt was delivered, we were asked to table at an Earth Day event at Safari West. They requested that all participating organizations carpool due to their limited parking capacity. We not only honored that request, but we felt proud to roll up in our co-branded (SCP and CCNB) electric vehicle, especially given the nature of the holiday we were celebrating." Sonoma Clean Power is leading an effort to build 600 megawatts of new, next-generation geothermal energy in Sonoma and Mendocino counties over the next decade. This is one of the most significant projects in our region's recent history. This Town Hall is an opportunity to learn more and get involved.

Sonoma Clean Power is pleased to invite you to a Town Hall next week where we will present the key findings from SCP’s recent Transportation Needs Assessment. This event will take place on Wednesday, June 5th, from 4:30-6PM online via Zoom or in person at SCP’s Customer Center (741 Fourth Street, Santa Rosa). During this session, EVNoire, a nationally renowned minority-owned organization specializing in transportation, energy, and environmental equity, will share the results of the assessment. Following the presentation, we will host a discussion featuring perspectives from the NAACP Santa Rosa – Sonoma County, the North Bay Electric Auto Association, and Bikeable Santa Rosa. This will be a valuable opportunity to share insights, discuss unmet needs, and explore how the assessment can benefit our community in the coming years. Please register online to receive the Zoom link. To ensure we have adequate seating, please let us know if you plan to attend in person. https://lnkd.in/gbmUSUmu

The Pacific Environmental Education Center (PEEC) has upgraded from their 23-year-old Chevy pickup to a brand new EV! This new truck is essential for transporting staff and supplies to various locations, including the sand dunes, Jughandle State Preserve, and Mendocino tide pools. "Without the contribution from Sonoma Clean Power, PEEC would not have been able to raise the funds needed for the purchase of the truck," said Lorrie Lagasse, Board President. "Because we are an environmental education camp, having an electric vehicle fits in with our goals. We are able to walk the walk.” Discover more about Pacific Environmental Education Center (PEEC) and stay connected by following their social media accounts! Are you with a nonprofit looking to make the switch? You can get up to $22,500 toward the purchase of an EV through SCP's Nonprofit EV Incentives program! Summer is quickly approaching! When temperatures rise, so does the stress on the electrical grid. SCP's GridSavvy Rewards can help you earn money while helping to reduce that stress! You’ll earn $2 for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) you save during the hours requested in the energy saving alert. 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) is roughly equal to how much electricity it takes to run one dishwasher cycle. Help California prevent rotating power outages and reduce the need for fossil fuels. Enroll now. https://lnkd.in/gREtUf_t
