I was thrilled to represent Cerise+SPTF at the GIIN Impact Forum 2024 in #Amsterdam from October 22-24 at the Luxembourg Inclusive Finance hub booth co-sponsored with our partners Inclusive Finance Network Luxembourg InFiNe.lu, Innpact, Arendt & Medernach, ICFA - International Climate Finance Accelerator and more. The GIIN Impact Forum is the premier global gathering for impact investors, and it was inspiring to be a part of it! 🚀 I had the opportunity to attend some insightful sessions, such as the "𝐈𝐌𝐌 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬" panel with 3 practical examples on how investors make use of the evolving impact measurement and management standards, tools, and frameworks. Moderated by Joohee Rand, Director & Head of Secretariat, Impact Principles at the GIIN, the panel included:  Maria Teresa Zappia, Global Head of Impact, Deputy CEO and Chief Impact and Blended Finance Officer, BlueOrchard Finance Ltd  Milena Bertram, Chief Sustainability Officer, Finance in Motion  Shade Duffy, Director of Impact Management, AXA Investment Managers All speakers shared their approaches on leveraging Impact Measurement & Management (IMM) throughout the investment lifecycle, developing relevant benchmarking and collecting data to drive their decision-making. Maria Teresa Zappia’s 6-step BlueOrchard Investment Management Framework was especially insightful.  👉 Impact Strategy: Impact intentionality of the investment decision? 👉 Independent Governance Structure: Oversee the implementation  👉 Standardised Measurement: How does IM Framework compare to IRIS and other industry standards?  👉 Impact and ESG Monitoring  👉 Robust and Transparent Reporting  👉 External Verification  This framework aligns closely with our own 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 for Social and Environmental Performance Management at Cerise+SPTF. Milena Bertram noted the importance of setting targets ex-ante, as it allows to assess achievements and learn lessons from unmet targets. Shade Duffy underscored aligning investment objectives with capital type, highlighting the nuances of listed vs. unlisted capital. On challenges, Milena emphasised the need for better data attribution and comparability benchmarks. 🎯 I added my thoughts on the importance of data sharing: vast amounts of data are collected by FSPs, investors, DFIs, multilateral development finance institutions and regulators, who then sit within the collecting fund or organisations and are not available for broader market intelligence. To improve our understanding on client outcomes and impact, increase #data #management efficiency and reduce costs, we need a shift toward shared, transparent data practices. 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 Nget Sokong's story is a classic one of misinformation about formal financial services, scamsters offering jobs on a payment basis, and ponsi savings schemes. She is from Battambang province and received input on financial literacy and customer empowerment under the Safe Finance pilot. Her story shows that simple, timely, relevant financial literacy and customer empowerment messages can help change financial behavior. The Strengthening Safe Finance in Communities (or Safe Finance) initiative was launched and implemented by the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), Cambodian Microfinance Association (CMA), The Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC), and supported by Credit Bureau Cambodia, JICA, and Cerise+SPTF 🚀 This project has been piloted for over a year in several provinces, focusing on increasing financial literacy, consumer empowerment, and client protection. The initiative works to promote the safe use of formal financial services, helping local citizens manage their family finances, avoid scams, and make informed decisions regarding loans. Since February 2023, the project has: 👉 Trained 59 commune-level lead trainers (including 16 women) across Kampong Thom, Kampong Speu, Svay Rieng, and Battambang provinces. 👉 Raised awareness about financial rights and responsibilities to protect against financial scams and over-indebtedness of 15,033 participants (including 11,172 women) and transferred financial literacy knowledge to local government authorities who delivered the content to participants.  Cerise + SPTF is part of the pilot's Central Committee and has helped to align the pilot with global best practices on client protection via technical expertise on the customer empowerment dimensions of choice, voice, respect, and control in content design, and for the pilot's MEAL framework.    This initiative is a true testament to the power of collaboration between stakeholders in a market systems approach, and we look forward to the continued progress in promoting financial well-being in Cambodia. 🚀 Exciting days for #Impact #Finance in #Luxembourg Tuesday I had the privilege of attending on behalf of Cerise+SPTF to the second edition of the Impact Finance Forum Luxembourg, organised by ICFA - International Climate Finance Accelerator. ICFA, and the recently launched ISFA - International Social Finance Accelerator are designed to support emerging fund managers who tackle the world's most pressing climate and social challenges with financial backing and technical assistance, from coaching to training workshops. The programs are crucial for incubating new ideas and fuelling the growth of climate and social impact finance. 💡 Key highlights 👉 Minister Gilles Roth emphasised the urgency of accelerating funding to achieve the SDGs, with Luxembourg’s financial center uniquely positioned to develop innovative solutions like blended finance 👉 A 10-Point Action Plan launched earlier this year outlines concrete steps to make this happen. 🚀 At Cerise+SPTF, we take pride in our clear criteria and indicators to ensure impact investing doesn't become just another marketing buzzword.  For the past 20 years, Cerise + SPTF has been at the forefront of creating standards for transparent evaluation and reporting in inclusive finance 👉 https://lnkd.in/e-_AJVDP Steven Evers, CEO of Triple Jump, addressed the challenges of the evolving regulatory frameworks related to impact measurement and reporting. He expressed the hope that SFDR 2.0 will provide a balanced reporting framework that levels the playing field. Currently, one of Triple Jump's highest impact funds must register as Article 8 under SFDR because of challenges in data collection in the Global South. "We absolutely need to advocate for this permanently, by sharing our experience with implementing regulation and contribute to develop better frameworks that take into consideration the specificities of the Global South!"
